Warning: the following prompt is inspired by, and therefore contains BIG SPOILERS of "The Cursed Child".

Story:

Just like in The Cursed Child, Albus and Scorpius steal the Ministry's cheap time-turner and use it to try and save Cedric. But their failure is even worse because they end up not being even born. Harry and Draco don't know that but they do see, from their reality, that they have disappeared somewhere in time because the time turner comes back without them.

Draco brings Harry the real golden time-turner and they try and use it to find their children, but as they search they see what happens in alternate realities. They travel without knowing WHERE and WHEN their children got lost so they end up seeing lots of alternative versions of their lives. In some of them, Voldemort is still alive, in others he is dead, but one thing never changes: their children NEVER exist, because in all of these alternate realities, Draco didn't marry Astoria, Harry didn't marry Ginny. In all alternate realities, Harry and Draco somehow fell in love with each other.

As much of a chock it is for them at first, they have no choice but to accept it, and the more they see, the more they understand why their "other themselves" fell in love. And when they really understand how deep it is, when they start feeling it themselves, that's when they also understand there is only one way to bring their children back. Not by keeping desperately searching without a clue in both space and time, but by breaking their "couple" apart so brutally there is no way they could ever forgive each other and get back together.

They use polyjuice to copy their younger selves and do the most horrible things to their "lover". Draco makes sure he's caught cheating, and torturing a muggle with a bunch of death eaters by the other Harry, and Harry casts a sectumsempra on the other Draco and stands smiling as he bleeds untill Snape arrives to recue him.

When they come back and are finally able to hug their family again, they can't look at each other anymore. Because it's clear between them that they feel something for each other, but they can't say it to anyone, and Harry is married to Ginny, who he loves, who loves him back... they just both know that one way or another, one day or another, Harry will have to make a choice.
