I am a big fan of the comic and video Welcome To Hell, by Erica Wester.
Which I suggest you watch if you haven't:

Although it is obviously a comedy, it's not MERELY a comedy. And I love to dig in all the darkness of it. Let me show you my analysis:

Since Jonathan is the only one to SEE Sock, and Sock is a DEMON, and Sock is FRIENDLY, and Sock keeps telling Jonathan to KILL HIMSELF, I didn't have to dig too far to see how behind the comedy there's a pretty dark metaphor of a suicidal teenager. Jonathan is hanted by his demon, who also happen to be his IMAGINARY FRIEND/ sexually ambiguous imaginary LOVER and we all know how dramatically unoriginal suicide is amongst teenage guys questioning their sexuality.
The classic pattern of "the only friend is the enemy" illustrates a person struggling with the "friendly offer" of death.
At first, he's LONELY at school and even BULLIED. (The gym scene? He gets kicked in the back. And that's the only interaction he gets with other poeple than Sock, beside being scolded by a teacher. Great social life... )
So as I was saying, the suicidal thoughts attack him at SCHOOL (stressful environment) first, but after some time they invite themselves deeper in his intimacy (When Sock says: "I just realized, I can get into your house whenever I want.")
Sock is the only person who seems to get him a little, and to like him. Jonathan can't help but like him back... but Sock means death.
Jonathan is a depressed teenager, and resisting the suicidal thoughts for him equals walking under a heavy rain, next to a friendly, attractive person offering an umbrella. It's hard to do and sometimes it seems pointless, and absurd. So that's what my fanart means.

PS: I drew the characters with a slightly different style and clothes. It's the style I'm using for my illustrated fanfiction, which I'll upload when it's more developped. It's been a side project since january so you will get to see it at some point.
