Starcraft 2: Zerg GuardianModeled by Phill Gonzales, final texture pass Ted Park!

Once Wings of Liberty shipped there was considerable down time on the development team. The game designers proceeded to develop mod maps for Blizzcon 2010 and the artists were free to prototype new art for Heart of the Swarm. My focus was on modeling the retired Starcraft 1 Zerg units to be used in the upcoming Zerg Campaign. This model was based on a Mr.--Jack illustration [link] that updated the Guardian visuals. The Guardian only appears as a Primal Zerg unit with a altered texture in HotS, but the asset will be released to the mod community for custom maps.

Nice work. These uge claws were not seen in the old model of the Guardian though.
Did you also make a model for the defiler?
hmm, why not use these classic units as enemy units in LotV, whenever you get to fight Zerg?

I liked the claws so I just stuck to Mr.--Jack's redesign. The SC1 version had too much of a "flying crab" vibe to it.
The Defiler is also in my gallery.

I shall now assume, since HotS got released, you will focus on modeling the retired Starcraft 1 Protoss Units to be used in the upcoming Protoss Campaigns! And I shall not take no as an answer!

I really hope I get the opportunity to get the remaining units in the last expansion. The Valkryie also needs an update. We'll see!
