Starcraft 2: Zerg ViperModeled by Phill Gonzales, final texture pass by Ted Park!
Animated by everybody.
The Zerg Viper uses a new technology in the Starcraft 2 engine to make the tail flow naturally behind it. Once the model was completed, small changes were made such as the tiny wings on the tail and the purple spikes at the tail's end to help those shapes show up easier from a distance.

Certainly a vicious looking critter, though I never can remember if this unit can attack air or not. It's so like the Defiler that I'm not sure whether it can attack or not.

Love it. Thanks for taking the time commenting on each model, it really gives you and insight about it! How many modellers/texture artists were involved in the ingame assets in sc2:hots? It seems as if you made the whole game!

We're a small team of 15 artists or so, and that's divided over animators, level artists, concepting, and high resolution modelers for the story mode and portraits. Not too many artists but the output is pretty crazy!

No matter how many people it took, you delivered one heck of an addictive game! And I love how the evolution pit worked, where you actually got to try both evolution options before you picked one to be permanent, instead of the Terran where you decide which you THINK would look better as opposed to knowing which one you like more. I saw the uses of the Viper, but I'm more of a Brood Lord player than anything. I love picking the options that let me just swarm my enemies and overwhelm their base!
