Facts for commentary:
They've only been an official team for a couple of months (fun fact, Vanilija's previous rider disappeared godknowswhere), but the fact that Jesse helped break in and train the mare certainly helps their newfound parthership. Furthermore, the mare's dam is DNS Malina , Jesse's Olympic-level and multiple GP winner Premium Obertaurer mare, so it seems that the solid partnership is in the genes. They are a very balanced pair to look at, as both are lightly built with long elegant limbs. Jesse is a quiet rider, who doesn't seem to even move at all, and always keeps the double rein of the second bit very loose. He is a classically trained musician, meaning he pays close attention to the music he chooses. He creates his Kurs in a way that the horse's steps are always SPOT on beat and underline the music nicely, and this Kur will be no exception. Fun fact, we all wonder how he sees through his bangs sometimes.

Vanilija, who was bred at DNS, is a relatively typical Obertaurer colour-wise, but exhibits a slightly lighter and more delicate built, which renders her more elegant than the norm. She moves in a very light and lady-like way, with high steps as if dancing, and a unique flow and smoothness to her gaits. She really shines in trot-based movements, but she can be tense in canter-based ones. Her favourite move is the passage, and it shows on her ears, which turn forward and bounce a little bit. She is very attentive to rider aids, but does not have a "show-off" personality. Instead, she draws the eye with calm and flowy movement. Therefore, this is a combination that doesn't impress with flashiness, but rather hypnotizes with flow, smoothness, and effortlessness.

Story:
Another weekend, another GP. This time however, it was quite close to home - literally and figuratively speaking. RPS was just a couple of hours away, and it was also a close affiliate of DNS. Having been here a number of times, Jesse almost felt at home. A very luxurious, very large, very golden and very fancy home - but home nevertheless. As instructed, he brought Vanilija with him - the mare that was broken in by him and Evy, but later competed under Evy. "Funny ..." Jesse thought to himself, as he was tacking the mare up for their performance. "We broke in Malina together, she competed her though the lower levels, and I took her to GP later. And now, history repeats itself with Malina's daughter ..."

Evy has been on the boy's mind a lot lately. He resorted to blocking those thoughts in the beginning of her disappearance, but time was now starting to take its toll, and they were becoming harder and harder to shake with each passing day. And to add fuel to the fire, there was Matt, asking questions than even Jesse knew he should have been asking a long time ago. His mind started its usual round: wondering where Evy could be, what she could be doing, if she was okay ... a brief moment of despair at the realization that he knew the answers to none of those question ... was she thinking of him as much as he thought about her?
Jesse rolled his head around from left to right, slowly, attempting to release some tension from his neck, and empty his mind. His class was starting, which meant he had no time for gloomy thoughts about things he had no control over. He needed to focus on the task ahead.

Dark clouds were looming over the sky above Arena Port Royal, sending tiny snowflakes to dance to the ground. The sound of gentle strings filled the air as Vanilija walked in with long, flowy steps, each one matching the little "ting" of the violin. She halted in the middle just long enough for Jesse to salute, before springing into an energetic trot.

Right before the end of their performance, a tiny sparrow flew into the arena, straight towards them. Vanilija raised her ears, and watched the little creature carefully, but didn't spook or fall out of rhythm. The bird circled around them once, then twice, as they performed their last pirouette, before finally flying off into the unknown. Jesse didn't think much about it as he straightened the mare down the centre line and slowed her down to a walk. They stopped, he saluted, and the crowd applauded. The performance was over. From his perspective, they did well. And yet, he rode out of that arena with an unpleasant feeling. A gut feeling that somehow, something was off.
