A few moments after Runningfeather was
asleep, Mottledleaf heard something shuffling outside the den. He moved slowly as to not wake up his mate, then slipped out of the den. As soon a he was outside, he saw a shecat stealing a field mouse from the prey pile. There was a newborn kit on her back, snoring lightly. He examined the female from a distance. She was obviously weak and thin, as her ribs were showing through her fur. She was also covered in fresh scars.
"Miss?" He called as he slowly approached her.
The shecat jumped and her fur stood on end, a low growl erupting from her throat.
Mottledleaf smiled gently. "You can keep the prey, miss. But I might be able you a safe place to sleep and care for your kit if you come talk with my leaders."
She thought for a moment, never taking her eyes off of him, then nodded.

"Rabbitstar? Flamesparrow? Are you awake?" Mottledleaf called into the leaders den.
"We are now. What is it?" Rabbitstar nudged the sleeping Flamesparrow awake as she spoke.
"There's a cat and her kit here who want to join Meadowclan. Can you come out here?"
The leader and her Deputy were surprised to say the least, they looked at each other, then back at Mottledleaf. "Yes, of course." Rabbitstar said.

"We were attacked. I lost my mate in the chaos but at least I have our kit, my little Speckledkit." Sapwish muzzled her kit as the kit slept. The nursery was bigger than her old clans nursery.
"Well, you are welcome here, Sapwish." Flamesparrow said looking to Rabbitstar for approval.
Rabbitstar nodded in agreement. "And if somehow your mate makes it here, she is welcome to stay as well."
"Thank you," Sapwish said looking at all the cats. "Thank you all."
