Finally, AGH.
Now before I even begin writing ANYTHING, I feel like I should let you know that I can't take credit for this style of family tree. I was very inspired by Lopoddity and Vindhov 's style of family trees in their own AU's/headcanons for the show! So, y'know, as the decent human being I am, I uh, stole it. As you do. (sorry please don't hurt me)

Now, obviously, this is for my AU that I'm basing my comic Beyond our Borders off of. This version of Equestria as you might know at this point, is actually present in our original universe, ThePrimoverse . Basically a fanmade AU wrapped inside an original universe. Very strange I know.
But in all seriousness, it's an AU I've legit worked my balls off on for the last two-three years or so, to make sure I weave it into the rules of the Primoverse and make all the characters and lore work together, while also making sure the majority of the canon of the MLP:FiM universe stays intact.
Progress has been slow obviously because of school and that I'm a lazy, slow bastard, but it's finally gotten to the point where it's a genuine project that I'm proud of.
Below I'll write some quick descriptions of the members of this family tree, some background info of the universe, some relations, lore, and all that jazz. In the future I may perhaps make more of these if they're necessary for other families.

*Note: The name of the planet Equestria resides on is named Mox Equinox, the equivalent to Earth in other dimensions.

*Note #2: Changed Zodiac's name to Orion, because that's what the poll suggested. I really liked the name Zodiac, but the name Orion really did grow on me after a while, lol. Plus it's a very noteable constellation, and just because his name isn't Zodiac anymore doesn't mean he can't have ties with the predictions, mythology and astrology surrounding the zodiac signs, since well... they're still stars, after all -3-

This will be a very long story, basically it sums up the entire timeline of the Alicorn family and a bunch of lore and history regarding this AU. Keep in mind, all alicorns in this AU have the surname "Concordia" as a way to bind them all together (blood-related or not). Though they rarely ever use their surname as a denomination when introducing themselves or when writing their names, and almost always go with only their first name instead.

GAIA

Gaia is known as the All-Seeing Spirit. To everyday ponies she'd be considered the "God/Deity" of Mox Equinox. While she does not have a physical body, known voice or other appearance, Gaia's often referred to as "She".
Gaia is not a "person". She's a universal, timeless lifeforce and the source behind all life in Equestria and beyond. When it says she "does this/does that/creates this/needs that" it's her acting on her normal "programming" as a force that sustains life. Gaia herself is a living force, but is not directly intelligent.
She shares a sense of instinct, a hint of sense of right and wrong and a wish to survive. Despite not being a living being, in artistic depictions she is often portrayed as a bright white, large alicorn with a long horn and six wings. Some depictions show her having no mane or tail, and others show her with mile-long, white floating hair.

Queen Aetheria and King Terras

In an effort to make sure that Mox Equinox stayed healthy without her watch, Gaia decided she needed two beings capable of sustaining all life between Aether and Earth. Through years and years of growth and focused energy, the first two Alicorns were born.
Terras, the guardian of the Earth, was summoned through continuously growing trees, vines and roots, that built his body from the ground up. Around his awakening spot, a forest with trees as tall as mountains grew. Some say that remnants of this magical forest and its ever growing vines still exist today, known as the Everfree forest.
Aetheria, the guardian of the Aether, was summoned from the stratosphere through twilight and otherworldly matter, growing inside of a giant cloud before emerging out into the air. This cloud is said to never fade, residing so high in the sky that no pegasi can reach it.

No one is sure when exactly they were first summoned, only that it was tens of thousands of years ago, long before any kingdom or civilization. Anatomically correct fossils of modern ponies have been discovered to date back at least 150.000 years, and considering Aetheria and Terras were the first known ponies to walk Mox Equinox, they're suspected to be older than that.
The two mostly minded their business at first, doing their duties as guardians. But a while into their existence, their own minds began to form. It took some time, but after many moons, they began gaining their own consciousness and developing as individuals. They both began wondering if they were truly alone, Terras being curious about the sky, and Aetheria being curious about the earth.
They began looking around, scanning their grounds for others. Up until they managed to find one another. It was like a click, two colliding stars. Magnets meant to be.

After spending time together, the two hit it off with one another. Even though they seemed like opposites, both believed they were meant for each other. Together through cooperation, they built the planet up further, making sure everything between Aether and Earth worked together harmoniously and with love, creating a stronger bond between the two.
Until one day, it changed. They were no longer alone. A lone, grey pony, approached them. But he wasn't like them. He had no horn, no wings, barely any color in his coat, and a long grey mane tied into a loose braid. He seemed... withered, and was limping. He was significantly smaller than them, too. He didn't seem very bothered by all this, though.
He calmly explained who he was. He said he was named Master Chronus. Adding that he was an... "Earth pony"? Whatever that was...
Chronus simply chuckled at their bewildered expressions, and dismissed their worry with comfort. He had been watching over them, and will continue to do so. Explaining that they were ready to reform their world, and introduce it to the concept of Time. Confused, Terras exclaimed he had no idea what that was. Chronus chuckled again, saying that they'll understand once they gain control.
Their frozen world could not live on without a cycle of night and day, life and death, light and dark. Gesturing at the sky, he noted its endless state of Twilight. Once Time came, they would have to be tasked with protecting their vulnerable world. Give it just enough light to survive, not too little not too much, so that life could thrive under their rule.
Believing that they were ready, things changed. Aetheria and Terras became the King and Queen of their new kingdom. However, this meant that they no longer were immune to Time. Time consumed everything, finally realizing why Chronus looked the way he did. He was old, and soon they were too.
As they counted the years, watched the land flourish and the first tribes of ponies began forming, they knew they could not rule this land forever. For tens of thousands of years they had ruled, knowing it could not go on forever. Someone needed to take over their place once they were gone, to continue the cycle of night and day.

In time, their first daughter was born. A fluffy, white-coated alicorn with a cream colored mane. Knowing she would become the daylight of tomorrow, they named her Celestia. Their Sun.
As she grew, she would soon be joined by a little sister. A much smaller, midnight blue alicorn with a mauve colored mane. Knowing this little alicorn was destined to be their light in the darkness, they named her Luna. Their Moon.
The two sisters grew close, excited for their future roles as rulers. But there was one more to come that would join them; a little brother. A delicate, emerald green alicorn with an indigo colored mane. Knowing he would be their guiding light, they named him Orion. Their Stars.

Celestia, Luna & Orion

Celestia, Luna and Orion(who are often nicknamed as Tia, LuLu and Onion between the three) eventually grew to take over their kingdom, which was slowly but surely becoming more populated with new kingdoms around, and many new villages of ponies. Queen Aetheria and King Terras watched them grow up, spending many more years together before leaving their kingdom to their children and leaving their world forever.
Even though they may be gone, their spirits still live on. Terras still resides in nature and creates ground that harbors life, and Aetheria exists up high in the winds giving flight to all winged creatures.

After the founding of Equestria, it was beginning to shape up to look more like the Equestria we know. The three siblings ruled their kingdom in harmony.
While Celestia and Luna remained in their castle, Orion wasn't as stationary. He enjoyed traveling as a delegate from Equestria, and going beyond the borders of Equestria to far away kingdoms, meeting other rulers and enjoying the culture and company of others.
During one of these travels, he was visiting an eastern Frieasian (Pun on "Asian") coastal town named Kouma, that thrived off of fishing and trading between other villages. He was planning a week long visit, being there to meet the Emperor of the east coast, discuss possible trades and peace treaties. As far as he knew, the Emperor was kind but very protective and reserved of his people and land; only trading with close by villages or trusted allies across the waters. It was a big honor for Orion to visit.
While meeting with the Emperor, he noticed the large amount of maids who followed him. Though Orion put extra attention to a smaller, much quieter maid with a dapple grey coat and long, black mane working in the background with bringing the Emperor whatever he requested. Having to act professional in front of the Emperor, he couldn't strike up a lot of conversation except request cups of water and brief "thank you"'s.
However, as he was making himself comfortable in his temporary quarters, he heard a knock at his door. That same maid appeared in the doorway, quickly excused her intrusion with a polite bow, and put down a tray of appetizers and other traditional goodies as a humble welcoming gift. As she was about to hurriedly leave, he saw his opportunity to get her to stay for a moment, asking who sent them to him. She dismissively responded it was from the Emperor, but after a moment of doubtful glares, she broke the ice and admitted that it was from her. She wanted to be kind and show hospitality, so she decided to make him some traditional evening munches to eat.
Their conversation sidetracked, and so it continued throughout his week-long stay in Kouma. The two lovebirds had clicked like a belt, sharing many common interests and being astounded by their differences. He learnt a lot about her and her culture and family, such as now knowing her name was Sakura Springs, commonly called simply Sakura.
As he was getting ready to leave in order to travel back home to Equestria at the end of the week, he gathered enough courage to ask her if she'd like to go for a coffee someday, and perhaps come visit him over in Equestria. Shyly but excitedly, she said yes.

Two years later, she said Yes again when he asked her to marry him.

Luna was supportive of their relationship, and very happy for them both. Celestia was... less so. While she wasn't actively begrudging against them or belittling them, you could easily tell she wasn't very fond of Sakura whenever she was around. And it didn't get much better when Sakura announced that she was pregnant.
Orion and Sakura (Now Lady Sakura) decided in order to start a new life and family, they needed their own place. Orion decided to depart from his position as Equestria's prince, and start a new kingdom to the East. There, the city of Graymourne was founded.
Graymourne flourished as many new residents began flooding in. The living conditions were as high as could be for this time, and Orion and Sakura were loved by their people. Things became twice as exiting when their child was born; only to discover that there wasn't just one, but two of them. Twin alicorns, something that was a first for the entire history of the land.
But as the people rejoiced, Celestia became disgusted. Alicorns normally have two pairs of wings, but since their two children were only half-alicorn paired with a mother that's an earth pony, the two were born with only one pair, which is considered to be "impure". Celestia wasn't a fan of Orion and Sakura's relationship to begin with, worrying how their bloodline and dignity would be "tainted" by her. Being the oldest sibling, she felt that she needed to keep the responsibility of keeping their family pure. She expected their children to be impure, making her resentment for the pair and their half-winged children even stronger.
Eventhough Luna loved her brother and her newborn niece and nephew and supported their family the best she could, Orion couldn't take the pressure from Celestia and eventually cut all ties with her, disrupting their rule. After this, Equestria was left in the hands of Tia and Luna alone, and their castle was renamed as the Castle of the two Sisters. Luna and Orion kept in touch via dragonfire letters, though Celestia and Orion never spoke again.

Atlas & Aurora

The two twins were one male and one female; the male was named Atlas, and the female was named Aurora. They shared most of their color scheme from their mother such as their azure blue eyes, black curly manes and grey/white speckled coat, though the patterns and markings came from their father, and so did their magic.
Despite being only half bloods, they were still treated as a prince and princess by their people. Being born and raised in Graymourne, they didn't have much contact with Equestria at first, but once they grew into their preteen age, they were allowed to travel around and meet other kingdoms. They did even meet up with their aunts, Celestia and Luna. Celestia had calmed down from her resentment a little bit, and had settled on simply shunning and scolding the two, walking away to do her business. Luna was much more invested, happily playing with them and talking with her brother and Sakura.

Growing up into late teens, everything was normal. Aurora was a well-behaved, diplomatic princess who wanted to care for her kingdom and people as much as she could. Atlas was a mannerly, curious, and noble prince who often explored the corners of his kingdom, and despite being more introverted than his sister and often seeked alone-time in the forests surrounding Graymourne, he still enjoyed visiting villages and discovering new places on his solo adventures. He often ran off every now and then, but always came back at the exact time he promised to be back home to his parents, give or take a couple minutes. He was never late, and often brought home gifts he had been given from nearby villages as a thank-you for caring for them.

Everything was normal, up until the attack of Discord.
Discord, the corrupted and twisted Draconequus who branded himself as the lord of Chaos, took over Equestria and began sweeping up the land across the seas to be ruled over, causing unrest and unhappiness to all ponies alike. In a last ditch effort to defeat him, Celestia, Luna and Orion set aside their quarrell and bound together in order to save their homeland. They found the elements of Harmony, which they used to seal Discord away into stone. But not before the battle took Orion with it.
Celestia and Luna survived by a close shave, though Orion wasn't as lucky. He was hit by a final blow by Discord right before he turned into stone that was aimed at Celestia, where he jumped to take the blow instead of her, hitting him right in the side of his chest. Despite fruitless efforts of trying to heal him using all kinds of methods known to ponykind from all around the globe, the injuries and the magic corruption in the wound was too great and blocked it from healing.
Later that night, Prince Orion’s injuries only grew worse, and he passed away from his injuries.

This did not prove to be a positive change for Atlas and Aurora. They were still too young to rule their kingdom on their own, and Sakura wasn't in the position to take over the throne. Still too devastated to do much, things moved rapidly and the council decided that Atlas & Aurora would be Reformed into full alicorns once they were old enough. Until then, the council kept watch of the kingdom.
Lady Sakura continued to care for her children, but unlike them, she wasn't as immune to aging as they were. The pressure proved to be too much on her aging body, and she later passed away from old age and grief a few years after Orion’s death, leaving the twins all on their own.
Celestia and Luna, still grieving the loss of their brother, offered to care for them as best they could, and decided to help them reform in order to repay what Orion did. Celestia still felt guilty knowing even after all those years of resentment for her brother, he still loved her enough to sacrifice himself for her. She promised to be more welcoming and open with the twins to the best of her ability, despite the painful memories she feels when she sees their faces.
Eventhough she tried to be kinder now, she still tended to avoid them due to the pain. Luna cared from them the most, making sure to train them for their upcoming positions as rulers.
As they were rehearsing for their upcoming reformation, Celestia and Luna announced they will be getting some additional help. They introduced them to an old, grey earth pony with a long braided mane and a kind wrinkly smile. He introduced himself as Master Chronus, saying he would help them unlock their magic and help prepare them for their ceremony.
Strange, they thought... "Master Chronus". Wasn't that someone dad used to tell stories about? Someone their grandfather knew..?

Chronus helped them meditate and learn to control their magic, practicing and discovering their role and purpose. After a while, Chronus had come to his conclusion. Aurora, their princess of light, would control the circle of Life. She'd watch the ponies that she ruled over and the ones beyond that, and make sure they grow up and have the best lives they could possibly have. Atlas, their prince of the dark, would close Aurora's circle with the control of Death, to give life meaning and make sure it isn't wasted, and make way for future generations to flourish. Together, they would complete one another, working as one unit and keep the Peace across the kingdoms.
Nicknames were given to them in this moment that would represent their reformation. Aurora was given the name "Mercy" as her new position would be to keep life peaceful and merciful, making ponies grow and age as time passes on. Atlas was given the name "Marvel" as his position would be to allow ponies to look back at their lives in pride, and marvel at the accomplishments they've achieved before they pass on the mantle to the next generation.

During this period of training, Aurora was getting increasingly nervous and anxious, seeking support from her girlfriend Azuri Calore. Azuri was in the same position as her; she was being trained as well to take over the place as Empress of Aashtethos, the south-west capital of Saddle Arabia. When they first met when Aurora once visited Aashtethos as a delegate, they instantly felt a mutual connection through their similar position, and felt sympathy for one another. This sympathy and respect made them grow close, which eventually turned romantic.
Azuri was there for her through her worries, and so was Atlas. The days rolled by, and the night before their ceremony, Aurora couldn't sleep. She stayed awake all night, staring out at the pouring rain. Atlas noticed, and went to check on her. Aurora told him she's feeling way too nervous and anxious than normal, as if she's feeling something dangerous coming. This wasn't normal anxiety, this was fear. Something ominous was looming over them, and Atlas admitted he's feeling it too. He convinced her to head back to bed, hoping this feeling would pass in the morning.

As the ceremony started the next day, they walk up to the doors heading into the main throne room where everyone is gathered. Everyone turns their head to look, greeting them as they walk down the center carpet, and they kindly greet back. Heads raised high and looking proud, they walk up to their thrones for their welcome speech.
The feeling was bittersweet because of the absence of their parents, but the moment was still as beautiful as it could be. Celestia and Luna gathered the other rulers from across the lands and combined their forces, letting the two twins be enveloped in a cocoon of light and magic. With a flurry of all sorts of magic, their cutiemarks, horns and eyes glow in their respective colours as they gain their blessings and official place in Equestria’s rulers.
Master Chronus, unexpectedly, entered their circle when they were distracted, and calmly smiled to himself as they gained the power they rightfully own. He disappeared into their cocoon of light, and as the light faded and the two twins emerged, he was nowhere to be seen. Chronus was gone, and the two twins had gained something in the process. Their azure blue eyes had changed colors; Atlas eyes were emerald green, and Aurora's eyes were golden yellow.
They noticed a new feeling on their back; spreading their wings they discovered a second, smaller pair of wings had grown from their backs. They realized, not only was chronus a mentor; he wasn't even alive. He was a spirit, designed to regulate and guide the Concordia family. A spirit plagued by Time, yet alive forever.
As the ceremony concluded and Celestia and Luna crowned the two to be the guardians of the Eastern kingdom, the guests were lining up to congratulate them, give gifts and mingle for a moment. Most of the rulers that they talked to, they had met before in travels, or heard of in letters and stories. But later on, the two were approached by someone new, someone they hadn't met before. A white-coated, skinny earth pony with a long, straight snow-white mane and tail, with a black robe wrapped around his body. He looked a bit uncanny perhaps, but Atlas and Aurora weren't there to judge anyone.
Just like everyone else, he congratulated them with a polite bow and a peck on Aurora's hoof and a shake of Atlas' hoof. Respectfully, he apologized for the loss of their mother and father, saying that the two twins would do great things in their place. Aurora thanked him for his kind words, saying she hopes they can live up to their expectations and fulfill their place as rulers.
The uncanny pony turned back around to leave, but flashed Atlas one final, kind smile as he walked off, stating that in order for things to move on..... "Sacrifices must be made."

A moment later, the explosion happened.
Graymourne was obliterated in an undetected air strike, that hit the top of their castle where their ceremony was being held. The castle was left in shambles, and the city was destroyed by the falling rubble. Many villagers managed to escape, but the majority didn't make it. When searching the castle's rubble for survivors, the only ones they found who had survived was Celestia, Luna and a handful of the other rulers from around the world. The rest, including Atlas and Aurora, were gone.

Nightmare Moon

The death of their niece and nephew was the last straw for Celestia. She had seen Aurora being crushed under the falling roof, and Atlas being enveloped in the flames of the explosion. This broke her, as for the next 250 years, she would begin shutting out Luna more and more and creating a massive ripple in their relationship.
At first, they agreed to sharing the responsibilities of Atlas and Aurora's positions, with Celestia stepping into Aurora's position, and Luna stepping into Atlas'. But as time went on, it was clear that wasn't what Celestia wanted. She began taking over Luna's powers and responsibilities, eventually flat-out denying her access to them, thinking that she couldn't trust Luna with that kind of responsibility after everything that's happened. This made Celestia all-the-more powerful and loved by the people, leaving Luna in the darkness of the night all on her own. The people of Equestria grew distant and fearful of Luna, all the while the younger sister grew more and more bitter, attempting to reason with her sister but only leading to dead ends. The ripple between the two only grew larger and larger, until Luna couldn't take her sister's shunning anymore. She had enough.
Luna refused to lower the moon, attempting to pressure her sister one last time in an effort to convince her to come back to her. She wanted Celestia back; she wanted her sister back. This wasn't the sister she grew up with; the kind and caring Celestia was long gone, replaced by a cold husk of who she used to be. She needed her sister back, the only family she has left, her only source of comfort in a world that fears her.
Though she was only making it worse for herself, being slowly but surely taken over by the Tantabus that grew more and more powerful the longer the moon stayed up, and the longer Luna grew more and more desperate and emotional. The tantabus took over Luna at her weakest, transforming her into Nightmare Moon; the Wicked mare of Darkness.
Celestia had no other option but to use the Elements of Harmony to banish her own sister for the sake of rescuing their world. Luna was banished to the moon for a thousand years, leaving Celestia all on her own.

Celestia was forced to take over Luna's responsibility of the moon, and simultaneously handling Marvel and Mercy's powers as well, making Celestia The most powerful being alive.
And that much power felt good.

Cadence & Twilight Sparkle
For a thousand years, Celestia ruled on her own. Equestria and Beyond was thriving as it should, and the world lived in Harmony.
After Nightmare Moon was set free after her thousand-year imprisonment, and later returned to her normal self; Luna, she returned to the throne and to her sister. Celestia was of course overjoyed to see her, but things were different. Celestia wasn't her normal self like she was over a thousand years ago. She looked different, she had more of an attitude and seemed much more distant and stoick. She almost seemed to be a bit... dejected, at the fact that she had to return Luna's powers back to her. It didn't feel like Celestia anymore. Perhaps she was just stressed and overworked from all the responsibility..?

With the return of the Crystal Empire and the Elements of Harmony getting new holders, the rise of two new alicorn came to be; Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, and Princess Twilight Sparkle, A.k.a Cadance and Twilight. Eventhough they may not hold super powerful and significant positions as the rest of the Concordia family, they were both still important figures to be included in order to maintain harmony in Equestria. These four alicorns work together in making sure things stay on track, with Cadance and Twilight maintaining Love and Friendship between ponies and other creatures alike, by bringing kingdoms together and opening barriers between them. With the rise of Twilight's School (now University) of Magic and Friendship, it introduced many other creatures to be included in Equestria, making the Equestrian kingdom much more open. These modern times were promising, seeing how much more inclusive it was, despite Equestria's rocky past and how it used to be before it was founded.
Though obviously, within the inclusivity, there's also the rise of many who oppose this influx of other races and creatures. These ponies are primarily unicorns, who detest the opening of barriers, even to fellow earth-ponies and pegasi. They believe their ancient kingdom of Unicornia should be re-built and put in place of Equestria, believing that the magic and power of unicorns to be vastly superior to any other magic/creature known to ponykind, and that their magical abilities could help build a better, more sustainable kingdom that can allow modern technology and infrastructure to flourish. These xenophobic views are shunned and rejected by the vast majority of the population, and it's one of Twilight Sparkle's top priorities to ensure it stays that way.
Twilight's brother Shining Armor married Cadance and both took over the rule of the Crystal Empire.

Flurry Heart
A couple years into their marriage, Cadance and Shining had a daughter. She wasn't a unicorn or a pegasus; she was an alicorn. This had happened before of course, with Atlas and Aurora. And again, as expected, Flurry only had one pair of wings.
Luna was worried her sister would resent Flurry as much as she did when she first met Atlas and Aurora and discovering they were halflings. But to her surprise, Celestia seemed... content? She seemed genuinely happy, and often played with Flurry whenever she could, seemingly ignoring the fact that she's not a purebred. Luna felt relieved at first, thinking Celestia had finally begun accepting halflings and non-royals into the family. But the feeling of suspicion loomed over her, and couldn't help but find it strange.

Twilight, being Flurry's aunt, often foalsitted her as she watched her grow. Alicorns normally grow at the rate of a regular pony until they're an adult, which is where their physical aging rapidly slows down. As Flurry grew into her early teens, she became a lot more rowdy and rebellious, often running away from home to hang out with friends and not taking responsibility. She even cut her mane short without her parents' permission, because it was "cool".
So far, the other princesses are conflicted about whether Flurry is fit to be a princess or not, and what she would become the princess of. If not, Flurry would be the first alicorn to not be crowned as an official Princess. So far, a lot of consideration is being taken, and for now they will wait until Flurry is more mature and older to take any further action.

For now, Equestria and Beyond is as it should be, but recently, new issues have begun to arise. Magic levels are going off the charts for seemingly no reason, and the amount of seismic activity around the globe has become more frequent. Strange blisters of magic are appearing, conflicts between races are more prominent and more and more reports of odd magical mutations in ponies are rolling in.
A lot of smaller towns have been warned of wandering mutants who could be dangerous and contagious, and if this continues, bigger cities may have to be warned as well. Though strangely enough, many ponies and other creatures have been reported to feel very pleasant dreams when they're asleep, waking up feeling reportedly "safe" and "energetic", keeping them distracted from whatever is going on outside their homes.
This whole ordeal came very suddenly, and out of nowhere. Like a shockwave, a ripple in the surface of the water.
These activities have sparked a lot of attention from some... "unwanted visitors". Fortunately, not that many necessarily believe in the extraterrestrial, and this can be easily explained away as just being some light fluctuation in Mox Equinox's internal magic flow, that is just having a spike.

So there's nothing to be worried about. Everything is as it should be. Nothing is wrong.

Finally, AGH.
Now before I even begin writing ANYTHING, I feel like I should let you know that I can't take credit for this style of family tree. I was very inspired by Lopoddity and Vindhov 's style of family trees in their own AU's/headcanons for the show! So, y'know, as the decent human being I am, I uh, stole it. As you do. (sorry please don't hurt me)

Now, obviously, this is for my AU that I'm basing my comic Beyond our Borders off of. This version of Equestria as you might know at this point, is actually present in our original universe, ThePrimoverse . Basically a fanmade AU wrapped inside an original universe. Very strange I know.
But in all seriousness, it's an AU I've legit worked my balls off on for the last two-three years or so, to make sure I weave it into the rules of the Primoverse and make all the characters and lore work together, while also making sure the majority of the canon of the MLP:FiM universe stays intact.
Progress has been slow obviously because of school and that I'm a lazy, slow bastard, but it's finally gotten to the point where it's a genuine project that I'm proud of.
Below I'll write some quick descriptions of the members of this family tree, some background info of the universe, some relations, lore, and all that jazz. In the future I may perhaps make more of these if they're necessary for other families.

*Note #2: Changed Zodiac's name to Orion, because that's what the poll suggested. I really liked the name Zodiac, but the name Orion really did grow on me after a while, lol. Plus it's a very noteable constellation, and just because his name isn't Zodiac anymore doesn't mean he can't have ties with the predictions, mythology and astrology surrounding the zodiac signs, since well... they're still stars, after all -3-

This will be a very long story, basically it sums up the entire timeline of the Alicorn family and a bunch of lore and history regarding this AU. Keep in mind, all alicorns in this AU have the surname "Concordia" as a way to bind them all together (blood-related or not). Though they rarely ever use their surname as a denomination when introducing themselves or when writing their names, and almost always go with only their first name instead.

GAIA

Gaia is known as the All-Seeing Spirit. To everyday ponies she'd be considered the "God/Deity" of Mox Equinox. While she does not have a physical body, known voice or other appearance, Gaia's often referred to as "She".
Gaia is not a "person". She's a universal, timeless lifeforce and the source behind all life in Equestria and beyond. When it says she "does this/does that/creates this/needs that" it's her acting on her normal "programming" as a force that sustains life. Gaia herself is a living force, but is not directly intelligent.
She shares a sense of instinct, a hint of sense of right and wrong and a wish to survive. Despite not being a living being, in artistic depictions she is often portrayed as a bright white, large alicorn with a long horn and six wings. Some depictions show her having no mane or tail, and others show her with mile-long, white floating hair.

Queen Aetheria and King Terras

In an effort to make sure that Mox Equinox stayed healthy without her watch, Gaia decided she needed two beings capable of sustaining all life between Aether and Earth. Through years and years of growth and focused energy, the first two Alicorns were born.
Terras, the guardian of the Earth, was summoned through continuously growing trees, vines and roots, that built his body from the ground up. Around his awakening spot, a forest with trees as tall as mountains grew. Some say that remnants of this magical forest and its ever growing vines still exist today, known as the Everfree forest.
Aetheria, the guardian of the Aether, was summoned from the stratosphere through twilight and otherworldly matter, growing inside of a giant cloud before emerging out into the air. This cloud is said to never fade, residing so high in the sky that no pegasi can reach it.

No one is sure when exactly they were first summoned, only that it was tens of thousands of years ago, long before any kingdom or civilization. Anatomically correct fossils of modern ponies have been discovered to date back at least 150.000 years, and considering Aetheria and Terras were the first known ponies to walk Mox Equinox, they're suspected to be older than that.
The two mostly minded their business at first, doing their duties as guardians. But a while into their existence, their own minds began to form. It took some time, but after many moons, they began gaining their own consciousness and developing as individuals. They both began wondering if they were truly alone, Terras being curious about the sky, and Aetheria being curious about the earth.
They began looking around, scanning their grounds for others. Up until they managed to find one another. It was like a click, two colliding stars. Magnets meant to be.

After spending time together, the two hit it off with one another. Even though they seemed like opposites, both believed they were meant for each other. Together through cooperation, they built the planet up further, making sure everything between Aether and Earth worked together harmoniously and with love, creating a stronger bond between the two.
Until one day, it changed. They were no longer alone. A lone, grey pony, approached them. But he wasn't like them. He had no horn, no wings, barely any color in his coat, and a long grey mane tied into a loose braid. He seemed... withered, and was limping. He was significantly smaller than them, too. He didn't seem very bothered by all this, though.
He calmly explained who he was. He said he was named Master Chronus. Adding that he was an... "Earth pony"? Whatever that was...
Chronus simply chuckled at their bewildered expressions, and dismissed their worry with comfort. He had been watching over them, and will continue to do so. Explaining that they were ready to reform their world, and introduce it to the concept of Time. Confused, Terras exclaimed he had no idea what that was. Chronus chuckled again, saying that they'll understand once they gain control.
Their frozen world could not live on without a cycle of night and day, life and death, light and dark. Gesturing at the sky, he noted its endless state of Twilight. Once Time came, they would have to be tasked with protecting their vulnerable world. Give it just enough light to survive, not too little not too much, so that life could thrive under their rule.
Believing that they were ready, things changed. Aetheria and Terras became the King and Queen of their new kingdom. However, this meant that they no longer were immune to Time. Time consumed everything, finally realizing why Chronus looked the way he did. He was old, and soon they were too.
As they counted the years, watched the land flourish and the first tribes of ponies began forming, they knew they could not rule this land forever. For tens of thousands of years they had ruled, knowing it could not go on forever. Someone needed to take over their place once they were gone, to continue the cycle of night and day.

In time, their first daughter was born. A fluffy, white-coated alicorn with a cream colored mane. Knowing she would become the daylight of tomorrow, they named her Celestia. Their Sun.
As she grew, she would soon be joined by a little sister. A much smaller, midnight blue alicorn with a mauve colored mane. Knowing this little alicorn was destined to be their light in the darkness, they named her Luna. Their Moon.
The two sisters grew close, excited for their future roles as rulers. But there was one more to come that would join them; a little brother. A delicate, emerald green alicorn with an indigo colored mane. Knowing he would be their guiding light, they named him Orion. Their Stars.

Celestia, Luna & Orion

Celestia, Luna and Orion(who are often nicknamed as Tia, LuLu and Onion between the three) eventually grew to take over their kingdom, which was slowly but surely becoming more populated with new kingdoms around, and many new villages of ponies. Queen Aetheria and King Terras watched them grow up, spending many more years together before leaving their kingdom to their children and leaving their world forever.
Even though they may be gone, their spirits still live on. Terras still resides in nature and creates ground that harbors life, and Aetheria exists up high in the winds giving flight to all winged creatures.

After the founding of Equestria, it was beginning to shape up to look more like the Equestria we know. The three siblings ruled their kingdom in harmony.
While Celestia and Luna remained in their castle, Orion wasn't as stationary. He enjoyed traveling as a delegate from Equestria, and going beyond the borders of Equestria to far away kingdoms, meeting other rulers and enjoying the culture and company of others.
During one of these travels, he was visiting an eastern Frieasian (Pun on "Asian") coastal town named Kouma, that thrived off of fishing and trading between other villages. He was planning a week long visit, being there to meet the Emperor of the east coast, discuss possible trades and peace treaties. As far as he knew, the Emperor was kind but very protective and reserved of his people and land; only trading with close by villages or trusted allies across the waters. It was a big honor for Orion to visit.
While meeting with the Emperor, he noticed the large amount of maids who followed him. Though Orion put extra attention to a smaller, much quieter maid with a dapple grey coat and long, black mane working in the background with bringing the Emperor whatever he requested. Having to act professional in front of the Emperor, he couldn't strike up a lot of conversation except request cups of water and brief "thank you"'s.
However, as he was making himself comfortable in his temporary quarters, he heard a knock at his door. That same maid appeared in the doorway, quickly excused her intrusion with a polite bow, and put down a tray of appetizers and other traditional goodies as a humble welcoming gift. As she was about to hurriedly leave, he saw his opportunity to get her to stay for a moment, asking who sent them to him. She dismissively responded it was from the Emperor, but after a moment of doubtful glares, she broke the ice and admitted that it was from her. She wanted to be kind and show hospitality, so she decided to make him some traditional evening munches to eat.
Their conversation sidetracked, and so it continued throughout his week-long stay in Kouma. The two lovebirds had clicked like a belt, sharing many common interests and being astounded by their differences. He learnt a lot about her and her culture and family, such as now knowing her name was Sakura Springs, commonly called simply Sakura.
As he was getting ready to leave in order to travel back home to Equestria at the end of the week, he gathered enough courage to ask her if she'd like to go for a coffee someday, and perhaps come visit him over in Equestria. Shyly but excitedly, she said yes.

Two years later, she said Yes again when he asked her to marry him.

Luna was supportive of their relationship, and very happy for them both. Celestia was... less so. While she wasn't actively begrudging against them or belittling them, you could easily tell she wasn't very fond of Sakura whenever she was around. And it didn't get much better when Sakura announced that she was pregnant.
Orion and Sakura (Now Lady Sakura) decided in order to start a new life and family, they needed their own place. Orion decided to depart from his position as Equestria's prince, and start a new kingdom to the East. There, the city of Graymourne was founded.
Graymourne flourished as many new residents began flooding in. The living conditions were as high as could be for this time, and Orion and Sakura were loved by their people. Things became twice as exiting when their child was born; only to discover that there wasn't just one, but two of them. Twin alicorns, something that was a first for the entire history of the land.
But as the people rejoiced, Celestia became disgusted. Alicorns normally have two pairs of wings, but since their two children were only half-alicorn paired with a mother that's an earth pony, the two were born with only one pair, which is considered to be "impure". Celestia wasn't a fan of Orion and Sakura's relationship to begin with, worrying how their bloodline and dignity would be "tainted" by her. Being the oldest sibling, she felt that she needed to keep the responsibility of keeping their family pure. She expected their children to be impure, making her resentment for the pair and their half-winged children even stronger.
Eventhough Luna loved her brother and her newborn niece and nephew and supported their family the best she could, Orion couldn't take the pressure from Celestia and eventually cut all ties with her, disrupting their rule. After this, Equestria was left in the hands of Tia and Luna alone, and their castle was renamed as the Castle of the two Sisters. Luna and Orion kept in touch via dragonfire letters, though Celestia and Orion never spoke again.

Atlas & Aurora

The two twins were one male and one female; the male was named Atlas, and the female was named Aurora. They shared most of their color scheme from their mother such as their azure blue eyes, black curly manes and grey/white speckled coat, though the patterns and markings came from their father, and so did their magic.
Despite being only half bloods, they were still treated as a prince and princess by their people. Being born and raised in Graymourne, they didn't have much contact with Equestria at first, but once they grew into their preteen age, they were allowed to travel around and meet other kingdoms. They did even meet up with their aunts, Celestia and Luna. Celestia had calmed down from her resentment a little bit, and had settled on simply shunning and scolding the two, walking away to do her business. Luna was much more invested, happily playing with them and talking with her brother and Sakura.

Growing up into late teens, everything was normal. Aurora was a well-behaved, diplomatic princess who wanted to care for her kingdom and people as much as she could. Atlas was a mannerly, curious, and noble prince who often explored the corners of his kingdom, and despite being more introverted than his sister and often seeked alone-time in the forests surrounding Graymourne, he still enjoyed visiting villages and discovering new places on his solo adventures. He often ran off every now and then, but always came back at the exact time he promised to be back home to his parents, give or take a couple minutes. He was never late, and often brought home gifts he had been given from nearby villages as a thank-you for caring for them.

Everything was normal, up until the attack of Discord.
Discord, the corrupted and twisted Draconequus who branded himself as the lord of Chaos, took over Equestria and began sweeping up the land across the seas to be ruled over, causing unrest and unhappiness to all ponies alike. In a last ditch effort to defeat him, Celestia, Luna and Orion set aside their quarrell and bound together in order to save their homeland. They found the elements of Harmony, which they used to seal Discord away into stone. But not before the battle took Orion with it.
Celestia and Luna survived by a close shave, though Orion wasn't as lucky. He was hit by a final blow by Discord right before he turned into stone that was aimed at Celestia, where he jumped to take the blow instead of her, hitting him right in the side of his chest. Despite fruitless efforts of trying to heal him using all kinds of methods known to ponykind from all around the globe, the injuries and the magic corruption in the wound was too great and blocked it from healing.
Later that night, Prince Orion’s injuries only grew worse, and he passed away from his injuries.

This did not prove to be a positive change for Atlas and Aurora. They were still too young to rule their kingdom on their own, and Sakura wasn't in the position to take over the throne. Still too devastated to do much, things moved rapidly and the council decided that Atlas & Aurora would be Reformed into full alicorns once they were old enough. Until then, the council kept watch of the kingdom.
Lady Sakura continued to care for her children, but unlike them, she wasn't as immune to aging as they were. The pressure proved to be too much on her aging body, and she later passed away from old age and grief a few years after Orion’s death, leaving the twins all on their own.
Celestia and Luna, still grieving the loss of their brother, offered to care for them as best they could, and decided to help them reform in order to repay what Orion did. Celestia still felt guilty knowing even after all those years of resentment for her brother, he still loved her enough to sacrifice himself for her. She promised to be more welcoming and open with the twins to the best of her ability, despite the painful memories she feels when she sees their faces.
Eventhough she tried to be kinder now, she still tended to avoid them due to the pain. Luna cared from them the most, making sure to train them for their upcoming positions as rulers.
As they were rehearsing for their upcoming reformation, Celestia and Luna announced they will be getting some additional help. They introduced them to an old, grey earth pony with a long braided mane and a kind wrinkly smile. He introduced himself as Master Chronus, saying he would help them unlock their magic and help prepare them for their ceremony.
Strange, they thought... "Master Chronus". Wasn't that someone dad used to tell stories about? Someone their grandfather knew..?

Chronus helped them meditate and learn to control their magic, practicing and discovering their role and purpose. After a while, Chronus had come to his conclusion. Aurora, their princess of light, would control the circle of Life. She'd watch the ponies that she ruled over and the ones beyond that, and make sure they grow up and have the best lives they could possibly have. Atlas, their prince of the dark, would close Aurora's circle with the control of Death, to give life meaning and make sure it isn't wasted, and make way for future generations to flourish. Together, they would complete one another, working as one unit and keep the Peace across the kingdoms.
Nicknames were given to them in this moment that would represent their reformation. Aurora was given the name "Mercy" as her new position would be to keep life peaceful and merciful, making ponies grow and age as time passes on. Atlas was given the name "Marvel" as his position would be to allow ponies to look back at their lives in pride, and marvel at the accomplishments they've achieved before they pass on the mantle to the next generation.

During this period of training, Aurora was getting increasingly nervous and anxious, seeking support from her girlfriend Azuri Calore. Azuri was in the same position as her; she was being trained as well to take over the place as Empress of Aashtethos, the south-west capital of Saddle Arabia. When they first met when Aurora once visited Aashtethos as a delegate, they instantly felt a mutual connection through their similar position, and felt sympathy for one another. This sympathy and respect made them grow close, which eventually turned romantic.
Azuri was there for her through her worries, and so was Atlas. The days rolled by, and the night before their ceremony, Aurora couldn't sleep. She stayed awake all night, staring out at the pouring rain. Atlas noticed, and went to check on her. Aurora told him she's feeling way too nervous and anxious than normal, as if she's feeling something dangerous coming. This wasn't normal anxiety, this was fear. Something ominous was looming over them, and Atlas admitted he's feeling it too. He convinced her to head back to bed, hoping this feeling would pass in the morning.

As the ceremony started the next day, they walk up to the doors heading into the main throne room where everyone is gathered. Everyone turns their head to look, greeting them as they walk down the center carpet, and they kindly greet back. Heads raised high and looking proud, they walk up to their thrones for their welcome speech.
The feeling was bittersweet because of the absence of their parents, but the moment was still as beautiful as it could be. Celestia and Luna gathered the other rulers from across the lands and combined their forces, letting the two twins be enveloped in a cocoon of light and magic. With a flurry of all sorts of magic, their cutiemarks, horns and eyes glow in their respective colours as they gain their blessings and official place in Equestria’s rulers.
Master Chronus, unexpectedly, entered their circle when they were distracted, and calmly smiled to himself as they gained the power they rightfully own. He disappeared into their cocoon of light, and as the light faded and the two twins emerged, he was nowhere to be seen. Chronus was gone, and the two twins had gained something in the process. Their azure blue eyes had changed colors; Atlas eyes were emerald green, and Aurora's eyes were golden yellow.
They noticed a new feeling on their back; spreading their wings they discovered a second, smaller pair of wings had grown from their backs. They realized, not only was chronus a mentor; he wasn't even alive. He was a spirit, designed to regulate and guide the Concordia family. A spirit plagued by Time, yet alive forever.
As the ceremony concluded and Celestia and Luna crowned the two to be the guardians of the Eastern kingdom, the guests were lining up to congratulate them, give gifts and mingle for a moment. Most of the rulers that they talked to, they had met before in travels, or heard of in letters and stories. But later on, the two were approached by someone new, someone they hadn't met before. A white-coated, skinny earth pony with a long, straight snow-white mane and tail, with a black robe wrapped around his body. He looked a bit uncanny perhaps, but Atlas and Aurora weren't there to judge anyone.
Just like everyone else, he congratulated them with a polite bow and a peck on Aurora's hoof and a shake of Atlas' hoof. Respectfully, he apologized for the loss of their mother and father, saying that the two twins would do great things in their place. Aurora thanked him for his kind words, saying she hopes they can live up to their expectations and fulfill their place as rulers.
The uncanny pony turned back around to leave, but flashed Atlas one final, kind smile as he walked off, stating that in order for things to move on..... "Sacrifices must be made."

A moment later, the explosion happened.
Graymourne was obliterated in an undetected air strike, that hit the top of their castle where their ceremony was being held. The castle was left in shambles, and the city was destroyed by the falling rubble. Many villagers managed to escape, but the majority didn't make it. When searching the castle's rubble for survivors, the only ones they found who had survived was Celestia, Luna and a handful of the other rulers from around the world. The rest, including Atlas and Aurora, were gone.

Nightmare Moon

The death of their niece and nephew was the last straw for Celestia. She had seen Aurora being crushed under the falling roof, and Atlas being enveloped in the flames of the explosion. This broke her, as for the next 250 years, she would begin shutting out Luna more and more and creating a massive ripple in their relationship.
At first, they agreed to sharing the responsibilities of Atlas and Aurora's positions, with Celestia stepping into Aurora's position, and Luna stepping into Atlas'. But as time went on, it was clear that wasn't what Celestia wanted. She began taking over Luna's powers and responsibilities, eventually flat-out denying her access to them, thinking that she couldn't trust Luna with that kind of responsibility after everything that's happened. This made Celestia all-the-more powerful and loved by the people, leaving Luna in the darkness of the night all on her own. The people of Equestria grew distant and fearful of Luna, all the while the younger sister grew more and more bitter, attempting to reason with her sister but only leading to dead ends. The ripple between the two only grew larger and larger, until Luna couldn't take her sister's shunning anymore. She had enough.
Luna refused to lower the moon, attempting to pressure her sister one last time in an effort to convince her to come back to her. She wanted Celestia back; she wanted her sister back. This wasn't the sister she grew up with; the kind and caring Celestia was long gone, replaced by a cold husk of who she used to be. She needed her sister back, the only family she has left, her only source of comfort in a world that fears her.
Though she was only making it worse for herself, being slowly but surely taken over by the Tantabus that grew more and more powerful the longer the moon stayed up, and the longer Luna grew more and more desperate and emotional. The tantabus took over Luna at her weakest, transforming her into Nightmare Moon; the Wicked mare of Darkness.
Celestia had no other option but to use the Elements of Harmony to banish her own sister for the sake of rescuing their world. Luna was banished to the moon for a thousand years, leaving Celestia all on her own.

Celestia was forced to take over Luna's responsibility of the moon, and simultaneously handling Marvel and Mercy's powers as well, making Celestia The most powerful being alive.
And that much power felt good.

Cadence & Twilight Sparkle
For a thousand years, Celestia ruled on her own. Equestria and Beyond was thriving as it should, and the world lived in Harmony.
After Nightmare Moon was set free after her thousand-year imprisonment, and later returned to her normal self; Luna, she returned to the throne and to her sister. Celestia was of course overjoyed to see her, but things were different. Celestia wasn't her normal self like she was over a thousand years ago. She looked different, she had more of an attitude and seemed much more distant and stoick. She almost seemed to be a bit... dejected, at the fact that she had to return Luna's powers back to her. It didn't feel like Celestia anymore. Perhaps she was just stressed and overworked from all the responsibility..?

With the return of the Crystal Empire and the Elements of Harmony getting new holders, the rise of two new alicorn came to be; Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, and Princess Twilight Sparkle, A.k.a Cadance and Twilight. Eventhough they may not hold super powerful and significant positions as the rest of the Concordia family, they were both still important figures to be included in order to maintain harmony in Equestria. These four alicorns work together in making sure things stay on track, with Cadance and Twilight maintaining Love and Friendship between ponies and other creatures alike, by bringing kingdoms together and opening barriers between them. With the rise of Twilight's School (now University) of Magic and Friendship, it introduced many other creatures to be included in Equestria, making the Equestrian kingdom much more open. These modern times were promising, seeing how much more inclusive it was, despite Equestria's rocky past and how it used to be before it was founded.
Though obviously, within the inclusivity, there's also the rise of many who oppose this influx of other races and creatures. These ponies are primarily unicorns, who detest the opening of barriers, even to fellow earth-ponies and pegasi. They believe their ancient kingdom of Unicornia should be re-built and put in place of Equestria, believing that the magic and power of unicorns to be vastly superior to any other magic/creature known to ponykind, and that their magical abilities could help build a better, more sustainable kingdom that can allow modern technology and infrastructure to flourish. These xenophobic views are shunned and rejected by the vast majority of the population, and it's one of Twilight Sparkle's top priorities to ensure it stays that way.
Twilight's brother Shining Armor married Cadance and both took over the rule of the Crystal Empire.

Flurry Heart
A couple years into their marriage, Cadance and Shining had a daughter. She wasn't a unicorn or a pegasus; she was an alicorn. This had happened before of course, with Atlas and Aurora. And again, as expected, Flurry only had one pair of wings.
Luna was worried her sister would resent Flurry as much as she did when she first met Atlas and Aurora and discovering they were halflings. But to her surprise, Celestia seemed... content? She seemed genuinely happy, and often played with Flurry whenever she could, seemingly ignoring the fact that she's not a purebred. Luna felt relieved at first, thinking Celestia had finally begun accepting halflings and non-royals into the family. But the feeling of suspicion loomed over her, and couldn't help but find it strange.

Twilight, being Flurry's aunt, often foalsitted her as she watched her grow. Alicorns normally grow at the rate of a regular pony until they're an adult, which is where their physical aging rapidly slows down. As Flurry grew into her early teens, she became a lot more rowdy and rebellious, often running away from home to hang out with friends and not taking responsibility. She even cut her mane short without her parents' permission, because it was "cool".
So far, the other princesses are conflicted about whether Flurry is fit to be a princess or not, and what she would become the princess of. If not, Flurry would be the first alicorn to not be crowned as an official Princess. So far, a lot of consideration is being taken, and for now they will wait until Flurry is more mature and older to take any further action.

For now, Equestria and Beyond is as it should be, but recently, new issues have begun to arise. Magic levels are going off the charts for seemingly no reason, and the amount of seismic activity around the globe has become more frequent. Strange blisters of magic are appearing, conflicts between races are more prominent and more and more reports of odd magical mutations in ponies are rolling in.
A lot of smaller towns have been warned of wandering mutants who could be dangerous and contagious, and if this continues, bigger cities may have to be warned as well. Though strangely enough, many ponies and other creatures have been reported to feel very pleasant dreams when they're asleep, waking up feeling reportedly "safe" and "energetic", keeping them distracted from whatever is going on outside their homes.
This whole ordeal came very suddenly, and out of nowhere. Like a shockwave, a ripple in the surface of the water.
These activities have sparked a lot of attention from some... "unwanted visitors". Fortunately, not that many necessarily believe in the extraterrestrial, and this can be easily explained away as just being some light fluctuation in Mox Equinox's internal magic flow, that is just having a spike.

So there's nothing to be worried about. Everything is as it should be. Nothing is wrong.
