I always thought she had quite the interesting backstory: After a chance encounter with high-tech pirate Captain Filch, which resulted in her kidnapping and eventual (albeit accidental) transformation into a (maybe lizard, maybe salamander) mutant, the former college student made it her personal mission to put a stop to Filch's plans... which is how she eventually met the Turtles.

To me, this sounded like something that could have easily led to a whole story arc, but nope: A single episode was all she got. Despite this however, she seems to have gathered a bit of a fan following. And yeah, she's pretty neat.
