Actually, "velkommen" is used to greet people to a place, not like "hi" or "hello", but like "welcome to my home". To say "you're welcome", Danes usually use the phase "det var så lidt", meaning something like "no problem"

Yes, I don't know Danish that well...that's why neither I or my family members can read my great-great grandpa's journal! My dad's mother's mother's father was from Denmark and 100% Danish, and he kept a journal about his life, and his life coming over to America. I guess that great-great-grandpa figured that all of his decedents would be able to speak Danish I think that my great-grandma was able to speak Danish though, but like I said both of her parents where from Denmark, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was able to speak her parents' native tongue.

Yes, I just wish that it was readable. *.* Well, it IS readable, but none of the family (who's still alive) speaks Danish, so none of us can read it
