Description After a while I decided to make a recipe for the classic - ramen. Originally a Chinese dish, but widely adapted by the Japanese, often known to western world because of the Naruto anime.

I admit, this recipe is rather time consuming and complicated and if you don't want to spend much time cooking, you would be better off preparing yourself some instant noodles. But you cannot call that ramen, you know . This is the most classic recipe, but real deal, enjoy .

I love making this sort of thing, usually it ends out with me spiffing up the instant packets, but it is always worth the time. I wish they sold the thicker ramen noodles where I live.

Well, I know it sounds like a bit of a heresy, but you can MAKE your own noodles too .

Well, the broth takes much less time and I used vegetable stock, dashi, soy sauce, and shiro miso for it. It's a pretty quick recipe, but I like how you savor it more when you wait lol

Here's a picture of my ramen: [link]

I doesnt look half bad . Though I would probably cut back on miso, I just am not much of a fan of the taste, but mixing vegetable stock and dashi doesnt sound bad at all. I would pick a bit different toppings though, nor carrot neither corn are my favourites, but that is just personal preference . Do try my way with gingery pork broth though, the taste is quite enjoyable ).

BrocX In reply to Naruto-II [2012-05-01 21:17:23 +0000 UTC]

please, go ahead, it's like the most classic ramen out there. Just be sure you get a real dashi (can be quite hard to get sometimes), not a substitute. I mean, it would still work, but it wouldn't be the real deal ).

looks good
but I hate eggs XD
and I don't know how surumi tastes

BrocX In reply to LiveLongButLOL [2012-05-01 15:21:54 +0000 UTC]

the toppings are of course not totally obligatory, if you dont like one, just skip it . But seasoned softboiled eggs are pretty delicious . And about surimi, well, it tastes kind of how it sounds, like a fish cake .

LiveLongButLOL In reply to BrocX [2012-05-01 15:22:28 +0000 UTC]

okay
I never ate fish cake XDDDD

BrocX In reply to LiveLongButLOL [2012-05-01 15:24:19 +0000 UTC]

imagine ground fish paste slashed with crab paste and compressed into a cake . It goes pretty well with the dashi flavour of the whole thing, but like I said, these toppings are pretty classic, but on the other hand, it's still gonna be all nice if you skip one or two )
