Description somewhere along the lines
my heart got so deprived
that i fell in love with
every bit of affection
i could get my hands on

you were lovely
and i was lonely

and you fell in love with my voice
but not my mouth
fell in love with my words,
but not my palms.

and no matter
how hard i try
i don't know how to turn
my garden of a body
into flowers.

I feel like lots of people feel this, actually. People grasp desperately at love, whether or not they can truly return the other person's feelings.

something about the last stanza makes it seem a bit off. i think maybe it interrupts the flow. ending with "the whole of me" could sound better.


otherwise, i love it. the word "deprived" really makes it, and the contrast of what what loved and what was not.

I felt like I wanted a fourth stanza
but I just didn't know what I wanted

I feel like the second to last verse should be there...but it should maybe be in parentheses or something? Not so conspicuous, if you know what I mean.

The first lines are the definition of my love for affection ever since my first heartbreak. Wonderfully relatable and perfectly worded intro. I see other people agree with me, too.

Thank you! I'm actually a little...relieved that I'm not the only one.
Like, I feel 200% bad that a lot of other people know the starved-for-affection feel,
because it's very sad and lonely.
but it's almost a little relieving to share it.

That's the beautiful thing about your relatable poetry.
I know.. I am okay right now, though. I hope others that commented are alright, too. It's something hard to overcome when it grapples you but it's not impossible to shed it off after a while. Until it comes back again.

And then it's very hard to fall out of love with love.
It takes more than a bit of time, it seems.
