Description In a world where the Permian extinction never happened, the Chimera (Parapanthera spinax) is one of the biggest predators on Earth. Measuring over 3 meters in lenght and wheighting up to half a ton, this truly nightmerish predator is a highly derived gorgonopsian. Powerful muscles give to the beast great strenght and agility, while whiskers and a bifid tongue provide the animal with great senses. In physical appearance, this creature is very similiar to the sabre-toothed felines of our timeline, with the same long canines Β and bear-like body with semi-plantigrade paws. However, a closer look on the animal's cranium reveals not only its reptilian nature, but also its non-mammalian dentition: while the canines and the incisors are true teeth, the carnassial-like teeth are actually an extention of the animal's jaw with a thick cheratinous covering, adapted for bone-crushing habits(A). But probably the strangest feature of this animal is its crest, made of extenctions of the animal's vertebral spines connected with skin rich of blood vessels. The chimera can rear up these structures as a sign of threat(B). During the mating season, the males, usually solitary, fight each other showing the bright colours of their crests: the looser drops its crest as a sign of submission(C). After mating, females dig a burrow where they lay their eggs. Hatchlings are fed in their first months with milk released through their mother'skin. This animal is a solitary stealthy hunter of big animals that are killed by the lethal fangs of the predator usually with a bite on the throat.

I think some of its preys could be descendents of scutosaurs and dicinodonts
