Description The sectors in and around the Naduri Republic are home to a number of different space-faring species, some friendly and others not so much, as such the mission of D.S.S. K-16 will be an interesting one.

ARRAI: A diminutive marsupial species noted for their speed, agility and dexterity.  Once a tree-dwelling race, they retain their exceptional climbing abilities and are natural acrobats, able to pull off some incredible jumps, flips and spins in just about any location with ease.  They have surprising strength and a prehensile tail, as well as great senses.  Though peaceful by nature they have proven to make very loyal soldiers when called upon.  Like the Naduri, they share a good relationship with the Federation and are eager to seek membership; a few are already serving in Starfleet. [Based on the Yoda design by MicroManED , with a few tweaks]

ECHANAN: The most human-looking of the region, they have two rows of ridges on their forehead, some on their nose, ears and throat as well.  Politically neutral, they have managed to stay out of the hostilities, they are highly regarded as merchants and traders—which makes them a very common sight across the region.  They do hold a small region of space with a small number of colonies and mines, as such they have a defence force but only to protect their holdings, their military are outnumber fifteen-to-one by their merchant fleet.

GALTARAN: They come from a Class-N planet, as such cannot breath in an oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere, so must wear breather masks when off-world.  They have a very strained relationship with the Naduri, due to an on-going territorial dispute, which has seen quite a few skirmishes in that area.  They were also responsible for the loss of one of the border outpost, which they did hoping the Naduri would pull their forces from the Disputed Zone.

LAUAN: Very tall, slim with long necks and limbs, and small heads.  Males and females are almost indistinguishable, if it weren’t for the fin and speckles on the males head there would be no way to tell the two genders apart.  They have trade agreements in place with the larger races but have managed to remain out of the fighting that may occur in the region, as their main passion and interest is in science and research.  Though a small species they do possess some highly advanced technology, especially in regards to sensors, navigation and computer systems.

NADURI: The largest species of the region, which makes them a target for others who want the resource rich worlds they have claimed since the Great Revolt.  Their taahlar (bone crown) emerges shortly after birth and grows continuously through their lives, though it has become a common practice to shave and/or carve it to keep it more manageable.  They also have bony plates on their backs, protecting their neck and spine.  They are traditionally strong supporters of the Federation, but due to the war there are some within the ruling Clan that are questioning that relationship, despite asking for assistance from Starfleet after losing two border outposts.

OKORRITE: A crimson furred canine species, the newest to space flight, they are eager to establish themselves and have shown themselves to be quite posturing and opportunistic.  Their interstellar forces rely more on smaller craft and fighters rather than large capital ships, as such they have become highly adept at guerrilla combat.  They have already laid claim to a considerable amount of territory, though most of it lacks much in the way of resources, habitable worlds or anything of any real interest.

RAGHANITE: The second largest power in the region, which puts them at odds with the Naduri though the last all-out war between the two was almost a century ago.  A reptilian species with four arms, they are incredibly strong and versatile, able to adapt to many climates and even survive in non-M-Class environments for short periods.  Aggressive almost to a fault, they have only been kept from launching another full scale offensive against the Naduri because of their close ties to the Federation, however with Starfleet off fighting the Dominion War they did take advantage of the situation and took out one of their border outposts.

V’GHATH: The ancient power that used to hold dominion over the entire region and enslaved most of the other species, it was the Naduri that rose up and put an end to them during what has become known as the Great Revolt.  Since then however they seemed to disappear from the area entirely, without a trace of what happened to them or where they went, over the centuries they have become more myth than fact.  Almost bat-like with highly attuned senses and even utilise echo location, though it is hard to know if all the horrific stories about them are actually true or not.

YYNIX: An amphibious species, though more than comfortable on dry land on their homeworld they seem to spend most of their time underwater.  Blue skinned, with fins of their arms and legs, they are graceful and elegant being both above and below the waves.  Though technically neutral in the region they have had to fend off attempted incursions from the Okorrite and Raghanite, though have never take retaliatory action, preferring to try and negotiate a more peaceful settlement—not that they seem to last very long.

I wonder if the Arrai are an offshoot of the Horrusi. Anyways, you have created some interesting species here.
