Description My tribute to one of the greatest horror films ever made, John Carpenter's 1982 version of "The Thing".

This is easily Carpenter's best film. All the elements - the writing, direction, acting, special effects, and music work together perfectly. It's got the fear of isolation AND paranoia, and some of the most brilliantly insane horror sequences ever put on film - thanks to Rob Bottin who, like Carpenter, was also doing the best work of his whloe career here. A perfect movie by any standard.

I LOVE this one!! It's my FAVORITE!! I also like the Aliens one that you did recently. Have you done or thought about doing "Escape From New York?"

Cool, thanks for the comments. You might also want to check out my illustration of The Fog. It's not done in a collage style but it's a tribute to another Carpenter classic. [link]

That's a great illustration! My cousin LOVES this movie, though I'm not as much of a fan. However, I definitely like it better than Ghosts of Mars and They Live! Oh yeah, while I'm here, I like your Fright Night as well. Makes me want to watch that one again. I haven't seen it in a long time!

good movie, it' s half "Alien" and half "Evil Dead"(also if the thing is serious). the spider-leg head is both funny and horror. my father defined the thing "the chinese-box-monster"

That's pretty wild. I actually went into a haunted house based off that movie during last year's Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando. You prolly would have liked it there.

Anyway, excellent pic.

AMEN TO THAT BROTHER! HELL YEAH man! The Thing rocks. One of my favorite horror movies.

Great piece of incorporating all of the monsters it transforms into. And also incorporating Macready, Childs, and Blair into it too.

Instant Fav. *gives you two thumbs up*

The flamethrowers, according to the book were supposed to help them keep the facility they were at open and help them make pathways they could get around in the snow:3 But having to utilize them in the movie was interesting as they also acquired some from the swedes that got killed in the other facility, but you wanna know what, I find it funny how the arctic marines in the book went into ANTARCTICA sometimes with no hats on xD
