Description My tribute to one of the greatest horror films ever made, John Carpenter's 1982 version of "The Thing".

This is easily Carpenter's best film. All the elements - the writing, direction, acting, special effects, and music work together perfectly. It's got the fear of isolation AND paranoia, and some of the most brilliantly insane horror sequences ever put on film - thanks to Rob Bottin who, like Carpenter, was also doing the best work of his whloe career here. A perfect movie by any standard.

Fave'd. A wonderfully done masterpiece you've got here. The ending of the film itself makes you wonder whether the thing itself is truly dead, or it comes down to the last two characters. ^^ I liked that film, and the special effects were great.

I'm gonna be straight with you... That was the BEST horror movie ever made in my opinion, it's still my favorite, it was sooo creative how the alien was done, and it was fricken scary!

A very entertaining movie, especially when the alien made its appearance.

I like how you drew this pic, showing all of the aliens forms when it made its appearance. Very cool.

BryanBaugh In reply to KAIJUfreak [2009-05-03 21:48:08 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!! I love the Palmer monster, too. It is one of the scariest monsters (and scariest scenes) in the whole movie but people always seem to forget him. I have gotten more than one comment on this illustration where people have said, "I love that movie, but what is that monster in the upper left corner? I don't remember him!" And I am always surprised that people don't recognize him. ...Then again maybe people do remember the monster and I just didn't draw him well enough for people to recognize him! Haha!

Your welcome! I freakin' love the movie, and have seen it about 100 times, so of course I'd recognize anyTHING from that movie! I like the 1951 "Thing" a lot too, actually. Maybe you could have him around! LOL!

"We found Something...we found something"

The Thing is among one of the best movies ever done. Even today's CGI special effects can not hold a candle to this movie's monster. With also wonderful story writing, that keeps me seeing something new everytime I watch this film, its amazing.

You got the atmosphere of the film very nicely.

Uh....I hated that movie. A little too horrifying for my tastes. But, I find this picture more pleasent to look at.

For the record, what was so scary about it was that I could never figure out the monster. That's why its so chilling.
