Description
My tribute to one of the greatest horror films ever made, John Carpenter's 1982 version of "The Thing".This is easily Carpenter's best film. All the elements - the writing, direction, acting, special effects, and music work together perfectly. It's got the fear of isolation AND paranoia, and some of the most brilliantly insane horror sequences ever put on film - thanks to Rob Bottin who, like Carpenter, was also doing the best work of his whloe career here. A perfect movie by any standard.

BTW could you make one about that old sci-fi horror movie called 'From Beyond' (1986)? It's based on a Lovecraft story and I think it's a really twisted and bizarre film, you'd like it.

There was a prequel! 0_0 I'm not entirely happy about it though. I paid to see it in the theaters but there are key difference from the original and the prequel. Meaning the monster is no longer an intelligent stealth predator but more of a burst through ice and rooftops, causing huge explosions, and attacking people in plain sight. I don't want to bring it down to a bad script, so some of the fan base say it evolves through assimilation. Watch it.

Ahh, good times. I must say I was very impressed with how well the monsters looked for a movie made in the early 80's.
By the way, have you read "The Things" by Peter Watts? It's a well-written fiction from the thing's point of view and a must read for any fans.
