She looks like the girl who has been forced to wear a dress and go to a party she doesn't want to be at to visit with people she really does not like. She looks like trouble walking through the gate. I have a feeling she decided to make the most of her situation and will turn the day to her advantage with whatever it is that is in the box. It may be a toad or a swarm of bees, or maybe it is something lovely and unexpected...

I really love this piece. It has to be my favorite out of your entire gallery. Beautiful work you have here. Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you. I get the strange feeling your interpretation comes from a personal experience

Oddly enough... you would be right . I always had to forgo my jeans for a party dress and pretend I was happy to be somewhere I didn't really fit in. I eventually realized that I might not fit in, but if you brought something unique enough, your awkwardness was forgiven and for a moment you belonged. I have been creative for as long as I can remember and my first "unique" gift was a pair of pants I dressed up for a girl I really did enjoy hanging out with. Her mom just believed in parties that no one really enjoyed, but made her feel like she was a good mom, if you know what I mean. The pants were a HUGE hit and everyone wanted to know where I bought them. When I said I made them it was great. By my sophomore year everyone had a pair of my originals.

Now some of my gifts were not so great. One tiem everyone got a whoopee cushion under their ritzy restaurant chairs.... now that was a day...

Now at almost 35 I know I am above those things. I am now just myself and let people take me as I am, but I never forget that girl. She always has a special place in my heart.

Just curious, but how much would a piece like this cost? I don't own anything but prints so I am totally clueless, but I really like this one. Might be something I could point my wonderful husband at for birthday gift giving.. how ironic would that be ?

Wow... someday I will have the extra cash for stuff like this. For now I will just drool over it on my computer screen. Maybe I will get lucky and it will end up as a print one of these days, or I will win the lottery... *daydreams*

What's in the box is precisely the mystery of this piece. Suspenseful, isn't it???

Like in the movies when the person has a baby and they don't tell you the name... things like that bother me! Now I will just stare at that forever and wonder ...

Thanks. Originally she was holding a bomb, but I thought the gift might add some mystery. What do you think is in there?

The title of the painting seems very appropriate. Looks fairly mischievous.

Thanks. The words started out as a little poem to go as a description, but it sounded more like a song in my head. Thanks for the compliments.

I don't know why I love it so much, actually. Maybe the colors? I don't know, it's really nice in any case. :]

It's alright that you don't know exactly why you like it. Sometimes that is better, I think. It means that the piece is speaking to your sub-conscience, rather than your conscience, which is exactly what I aim for.
