RANDOM EVENT
Nirch's head bobs and twitches as November flails his little legs around. The hawk makes a few peculiar whistling sounds, intrigued by the lumbering waltz, and suddenly it sounds something like a low, grumbled 'chk chk chk chk!' Whether November realizes it or not, the hawk is laughing at him! But Nirch does then extend the offer to Nova to escort him on his quest for a lady hawk, out of amusement, and although unsaid, probably because it would make Nirch's dance moves look much better by comparison. Without waiting for an answer, Nirch hops onto November's back, and tells his new noble steed to move onwards.
Hawk Companion gained!
Nova danced his little heart out, swaying to the music only he could hear. He never noticed when Nirch began chuckling softly to himself, the little pony was far too focused on doing the best dance he could. He really wanted the hawk to come with him! That would be the most best thing to ever happen since...well, since quite a while.
Finally, his dance done, Nova put his two front hooves back on the ground and turned to face the bird. He was breathing heavily from the exertion, and his short legs were aching from holding his body at such an awkward angle. But he had done it!
“Well?” He gasped, hope fluttering in his chest. “What did you think?!”
The hawk tilted his head to the side, looking up at the pony with one beady eye. All trace of the laughter was gone. “Nirch was very impressed! Pony dances very well – for a pony!”
Kicking his back legs out, Nova let loose a little cheer. As soon as all four hooves were back on the ground, he was surprised by the hawk flapping up to settle on his back. “Nirch has decided to let the pony help him find a lady hawk to love! Onward noble steed!”
He was fairly bursting with happiness as he turned to look at the hawk with one eye. “Oh, gee golly whiz!! This is so exciting! Wait until we see Oren’s FACE she’s not gonna believe – ”
It was then that Nova remembered that he had no idea how to get back to the others. The noble steed could not go onward if he didn’t have a destination to travel to! Blushing, he shuffled his hooves beneath him. “Um….you see, that’s the problem.”
Nirch’s face was difficult to read for the young stallion, so he wasn’t exactly sure what the hawk was thinking. But his new friend bobbed his feathered head, flapping his wings wide enough to buffet Nova on his noggin. “Nirch will lead the pony where he needs to go! Just tell Nirch where this Oren is, and Nirch will show her how impressive the pony is! Nirch will tell this Oren how magnificent the pony danced! Nirch will also help the pony find love!”
He opened his mouth to correct the hawk, to tell Nirch that no, Nova wasn’t trying to find love – at least not with Oren! – but decided against it. The important part right now was getting the others! Turning back the way he thought he was supposed to go, Nova took off at a trot, and eventually the two of them found the herd.
Though Nirch wasn’t really very good at giving directions while riding on a pony’s back.

I've got my place settled on the new map, so hard to say. It's near the ranch, however! Probably not the best of plans but oh well! It's a nice little cove with some tropical forest and a good view of the sea though--ideal for a romantic getaway

Either way it sounds PERFFFF. I was holding my claim until the new map comes out anyway, so that works! 
With the raven giving me a small land claim, I was actually curious if I *HAVE* to combine the small + the large, or if I can get them in separate areas? I was thinking of making like a small mountain retreat for us with a lodge that sells hot cocoa and some nice skiing slopes.... LOL.

I'm not sure, but I anticipate the answer being that they have to be connected, for the sake of realism of your stallion being there. That mountain retreat would be pretty gorgeous though... I don't think we're too far from mountains either? November could always settle there anyway! Wouldn't be much of a trek to get from one place to another

It's gonna ROCKKKK. And I highly approve of this, tbh - the land claims were WAYYY too big before. One small claim took up basically the whole of Litus island!!! Everyone needs a chance to get a spot!

Yeah, definitely, and I know that certain members were planning to increase their already rather large land claims to take over entire biomes. Which is both selfish and unrealistic :< And yes, the proportions too are an issue D: but the new map is going to be imminently released, and it's looking good!

I was originally going to put Otto in the desert, but that put me off, especially since I have no time and no chance to contend if it came to that! I'm happy with my spot now, though. It's up to you! Mind you, probably best to get him uploaded before you want to introduce him, so you don't have to wait when the time comes. I actually cleared the entire design backlog just yesterday. It took me nearly 24 hours of going through all the notes and figuring out what was what, but I did it!

OHHHHHH are you gonna be DMing?!? My BF runs a lot of different types of tabletops (Marvel, Pathfinder, D&D, old skool Werewolf etc) and I've played in quite a few of his games. DMing looks tough tho D8
And YEAH. Prepare for having no time/energy for anything at least the first few months. I was a zombie when I got home for about the first six 8| And I only recently got my muse back, tho it all seems to be for Nova which I'm not complaining about atm xD
At least school is over for most for the summer? XD I'm so excited for the changes tho!! I was really happy with the land claim updates (even if they lowered protection for land claims, which I'm sure a lot of people were grumbly about xD). And the linearts are FABULOUS. I switched my herd stallion over that same day. Though now I'm debating whether I want to do that design or something else and I just gotta make up my mind but its so HARD and I have too many pretty designs I'm sitting on. I AM NOT GOOD AT MAKING DECISIONS.

I think you'll be awesome at writing a good campaign!! The only question is can you handle your players going off and doing something you don't expect? Like, one of the Pathfinder games my BF ran, he had some flavor text where our party was just riding past like this GIANT freaking hornet's nest. We weren't supposed to actually interact with it, it was just supposed to be something weird and interesting to see as we passed. Us, being the smart and highly curious (XD) party that we were, decided to go up to said hornet's nest. Now mind you, when I say GIANT I don't mean just like "really big but for regular size hornets" I mean these hornets were the size of our horses. And we decided to smoke them out of their nest. Cause obviously they had to be hiding some awesome treasure or something, or why would the DM have us wandering by it?!? This has to be a challenge!!!
And all our horses got murdered (thankfully we got lucky on the roll - or the DM took pity on us - and they only attacked the horses), and we had to walk the rest of the way to the dungeon

Haha, in one of the campaigns I'm in at the moment, my party seems to accidentally solve everything by setting it all on fire. I am prepared not to get too personally attached to NPCs and locations

Yeah, I imagine it would be! Are people impressed when you mention the sciencing? Whenever I say I'm aiming to be a freelance artist or to work in a game studio, people always seem to tell me 'oh that's difficult! You need to do this and that to sustain yourself' as if that's not been said before, if not by other people, by the tutors at university!

Haha, don't blame you. Personally I don't think the story is even that great, especially compared to other Disneys. Some of the settings are really pretty though, and admittedly and inevitably, catchy songs.

Well....that's one way to do it xD Fire is, ah, cleansing, yeah. At least it's a general theme? Some of the players in my group just act up in the weirdest possible moments. See a vampire sucking the life out of someone in the park? Walk up to them and try to engage them in a conversation telling them the errors of their ways. Young girl in an elevator? SHOTGUN BLAST TO THE FACE. (she was OBVIOUSLY hiding something
I'm actually kindof embarrassed to tell people what I do? Cause "I'm a technician at the R & D facility for a global building materials company" sounds, honestly, really fucking cool and I always get positive reactions. I feel like I should add - "and what that means is that I cut the paint layer with a razor blade and see if it peels off with some masking tape. Over and over again. Until my eyes are bleeding and I want to stab myself in the brain from boredom." Research is hella repetitive, yo.
UGGGGHHHHH as if you weren't aware before getting your degree that sometimes it's hard to get started. That's the difference between doing something you love and doing something you're just paid to do (read, peeling paint off over and over and over again until my eyes bleed). YOUR PAYOFF IS GOING TO BE EXCELLENT.

It happens sometimes! I was playing a rogue, and we were blocked in this inn by a big demonic creature. So I had my guy run upstairs and jump out the window, so he could come back in through the front door and backstab the thing. In my head, this plan worked perfectly, because my guy used to be in the circus and had great acrobatics! Of course I rolled a 1, so he run upstairs, fell out a window, got knocked prone and didn't manage to make it back in the inn until the fight was over and he managed to get the last hit in.
You see, at least it's worthwhile! I recently taped a blanket over my window(I am lacking curtains, might I add), and when I peeled it off, some of the paint came with it! Nightmare! I only just moved in :< it's people like you who protect the poor curtainless individuals like me!
I certainly hope so! Just need to crawl my way up there ;-; The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of working in a little game studio making art and assets, as opposed to doing freelance illustration from home. My experience in adminning for DiRPG has shown me that, strangely! I just feel a lot more involved in the work I'm doing.

Haha, I don't blame you. I was reluctant to watch it. When I finally did, it wasn't terrible. The story was alright, it just wasn't particularly memorable for me. I think the excitement over the story was that it was a Disney princess movie where the love focused on the sisters, rather than some smexy prince. Whatever the case, you're not missing out exactly!
That idea is probably easier to implement! I'm trying to get creative and think of horse-y equivalents to furniture and such. It's rather difficult.

Freeze thaw cycles
Yeah, I've found that is the case. I used to be a kitchen porter(bus boy/dishwasher by your terms I think), and it was very much a team environment. We often went out for drinks at the pub after work too, and I really enjoyed that!

Top tip; start looking around the tropical region. I figured it'd make sense if there were a lot of gems there! I also need to rejig the scouting for other areas so that more crafting items in general drop. As you probably saw on the crafting journal, not many people are using that feature atm, probably because getting the appropriate materials is difficult!
It was a variety of little reasons :< a fair bit of drama with some of the members, an issue with communication between the admins, disagreements on how to implement changes and what those changes were... all sorts. I think it's acceptable for them to leave, I just wish they hadn't decided to do it so abruptly and all at once! But I think the new ones are doing a decent job so far

(remember, my job SOUNDS much cooler than it actually is LOL!!) Stick it on a machine that condenses moisture on it. 24 hours later move it to a freezer for another day. Let thaw for 4 hours. He's from the bioware series Dragon Age! Specifically the last one, Dragon Age: Inquisition (my least favorite of the series. But he was definitely a bright point and I love the little squishy boy so much). That would work. And if I give minimum direction at first he can just grow into himself (which is what I did with Nova, tbh. I couldn't think of anything concrete when I first made him. I was in a time crunch xD)

Rejigging the scouting will help a LOT. I also think there are WAYYYYY too many crafting/item drops available right now, it's really overwhelming and confusing. Like, the blackberries I got the other day...what. What do I even DO with them?!? I think it's good that we have several ways of making accessories for the pons, but that would not be necessary if the things we needed for one or two of them were just more common!! My crafting materials tracker is just a mess, and I haven't even gotten very much yet.
UGH. Drama is never fun. I try to be as pleasant and personable as possible and keep in mind that the admins are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. Of course, it helps that I worked in customer service for 15 years so I know what it's like on the other end 8| If they could have just...sprinkled out the leaving a bit??! lol. My latest picture got accepted really fast!!

Haha, there's a good point! I'm a people-pleaser myself. I enjoy being an admin because I can see it makes people happy(most of the time). Random Events are probably my favourite bit, people seem to really like the personal touches! I think the other admins may have found fun in other aspects of the game, and for whatever reason that fun went away. But yeah, new mods seem to be doing well

IT SUCKS. I've had it a few times in my life, and I think the "which end gets the toilet first OMG OMG" is probably the worst aspect xD AH. I REALIZE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN A BIT CONFUSING. Not a NEW job - I got offered a permanent position at my company!!
They are, without a doubt, my favorite game franchise (even if, in my eyes, the last one fell short in quite a few aspects. It was a lot of people's favorite, I just don't really like open world games. I get overwhelmed by ALL THE THINGS) so I HIIIGGGHHHHLY recommend DA. And they should be pretty cheap now!

D8 I hope it helps a lot with getting people into crafting - I know I'm excited to be able to make more! Just gotta find more actual wildflower wildflowers lol. Most of the time xD Yeah, you're always gonna have those sticks in the mud. But I definitely think your REs are the best REs yes yes lol. It's so hard to keep things like adminning in the "fun" column and less in the "work" column, and that's so important. Especially because otherwise the rewards are very lackluster. Which reminds me, the land claim map seems to be updated, and the admin claims aren't there anymore?! D8 Did something happen to them??

Not too much! It was basically spending half a day fixing everything up. I hope more people get into crafting too. I mean, who wouldn't want a fabulous crown?! Will try to! There haven't been many scouting requests yet. Fingers crossed there'll be more from Sunday onwards, due to the reset.
Indeed! After I came back from my work induction I came on to do some adminning actually. I do legit find it fun, particularly writing REs! And working on things like scouting makes me excited for what people might get and imagining the funny stories they make with it. I think that's part of what I really enjoy too, seeing how people get inspired and creative with prompts ouo I've read/seen some really amusing pieces out of it!
Ah, sort of? When the admins left we lost the pdf of the map, and, to my understanding, we couldn't seem to retrieve it. So I think Azzi has sorted out the map we did have and is going to be fixing up land claims soon!

The boyfriend and I are trying to get a house of our own, either rent or own. So being able to pay my part is important. Also don't have much of anything to call spending money at the moment, what with student loans and a car note xD So being able to buy stuff when I need it is going to be nice. And a bit of a credit card bill I need to get down before we move. I just realized how depressing that is. LOL. DAMN I hate being an adult.

It definitely is! I'm hoping I can set up more opportunity for people to RP and have their horses interact. It seems people love it when they do, but from what I've seen the group could be more accommodating to the RP element.
It seems like that's what they may have done o-o I asked for the pdf myself and got ignored, despite thinking I was still on good terms with that admin, so I'm admittedly a bit salty! I'm not sure honestly, but as long as it's a nice bit of shoreline on the tropical island, ideally near-ish November, that'll suit me well

I imagine owning a house is more like "oh, crap, something else broke!" and it just continues on into perpetuity. I like renting. If something breaks I tell someone else and they have to fix it xD

Eurgh, man that sucks :/ I swear with student loans it's like making a gamble as to whether you'll ever pay it off. Either get a really highly paid job and get rid of it, or have it lingering over you for decades to come, even with a job in the profession you wanted.
You make a fair point! I like the idea of being able to do whatever I want with the house, decoration-wise, but renting is a lot more convenient I have to admit.
I suggested a 'secret santa' style journal where people looking for stat/sparring buddies and RPs could put their names down to be randomly paired up with someone, and I know a few other admins like the idea. I might ask around or suggest getting a poll done to see what members think, too.

Perhaps it could be combined with that journal idea I was suggesting though? I did recently put in 'run into a character from your horse's backstory' event though, since I do like the personal touches!

It's ridiculous!! "you must have a degree to get a decent job" "you must have money to pay for a degree" and the "decent" jobs don't cover paying for the degree in any reasonable amount of time. I went to the CHEAP public university and worked 40+ hours a week during most of my time there. And I STILL have a ridiculous amount of debt.

That sounds like a good idea! I figure a lot of people are just intimidated out of asking (and it is a decent amount of work to keep on top of the journal and all that, tbh). But being randomly paired up would be fun! And that would also help with the "not everyone wants to participate" problem. Yus. Atro had awesome idea, just needs some fiddling.

RPs via art are very similar to the stat gaining pics, truth be told. You have a purpose (my character needs your character to make me a charm! I need to level some herbalism, and your character can teach mine!) it can even be as simple as "our two characters want to hang out for the day" and you just draw that happening. Sometimes do a short story to go along with it. The pic we already did where Otto and Nova met would be what I consider an RP via art.

It's really quite saddening :< but I suppose you get some quality of life from it too, since(hopefully) you end up working in a job you like, or at least prefer over alternatives such as checkouts.
I hope so! I think if people write what sort of RP they're looking for, or what kind of spar/stats, it could be really good! E.g. someone who wants a serious, drama-filled RP, or someone who wants to find another awkward stallion to spar with their awkward stallion
Ah, I see! Here I was thinking RP was confined to literature. I suppose I've done that a number of times in the past then, usually in-person with a friend of mine! I would love it if you wrote up a short story for Nova and Otto, I like the humour in your writing

True :< when you're in that situation, it's difficult to let yourself be ambitious, because saving up money for future survival is hard enough as is! Want to go travelling? That's gonna be difficult. Want a special holiday fund for when you have an anniversary? You'll probably be working on your anniversary anyway, and you don't have the money.
That's true :/ maybe if the things they are asking for a limited to a few words? Otherwise I'd say it's partly the person's own responsibility to be open-minded about RP partners anywho! You can be surprised at what great RPs you can have with people you didn't expect
That's art/writing for you! Sometimes it's successful, sometimes it isn't. For what it's worth though, I enjoyed it! I will likely be delighted whatever the case if you pop Otto in, haha!
I hope so! I keep trying to tweak things so that RNG stays exciting, and promising yet challenging! Fun needs a bit of a challenge to make it feel rewarding, I think.

I can't even afford to visit my fam in MI! When my mum was dying, I had to rely on the goodness of my stepdad to afford the plane ticket to go and see her. (and, um, I realize that probably makes you want to go OH GOD and that's not exactly the most succinct way to drop that kindof bomb. But, uh, this happened years ago and sorries aren't necessary
I think saying "spar" or "stat training - stealth" would probably be sufficient. Or more detailed "not so serious spar" or "in-story line stealth training" could be good too. But definitely not, like, a whole freaking paragraph of what you desire with floating pink tarantulas in the picture n such. And being surprised at great RPs with people is exactly why I don't turn anyone down! Anyone who requests one on my thread gets one, and I go in order of requests so nobody is cheated etc. I've had a lot of them that surprised me with their awesomeness!!

I am much happier with the RNG so far!! Even if Sellie did almost die yesterday xD I've been able to get more items and interesting things, without just feeling like it's a giant murder fest! And challenge is definitely necessary - you gotta have the rewards and the failures, or the rewards won't be as awesome!
