Description
WHINE MORE, HATERS!Unfortunately for Sokka, Yue was Bella. Suki is Buffy, and she staked his ass, put Zombie!Katara to a mercy killing, then found the REAL Sokka and cleared him of his brainwashing that made him think he was the prince of the Fire Nation for some reason... movie #2 will be their search for the real Katara.
The joke behind this (other than the obvious) is that in the movie it's the costuming department's turn to culture!fail - they have the clothing for all the women wrapped right-over-left.
For those of you that don't know, or can't be arsed to check (hi costuming department!) right-over-left is reserved for corpses. Rewatch the series, they are faithful to the left-over-right method.
As for Sokka being a vampire, well if Jackson Rathbone didn't want to be made fun of for that until the end of his days he shouldn't have been in that kissing vampire movie (and made some pretty racist remarks about his casting of Sokka) and stayed in crime dramas where he was a cross-dressing serial killer with multiple personality disorder and COULD ACT.
Poor abused sparkle brush is by
Avatar the Last Airbender is (C) Michael Dante DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, and Nickelodeon.

Well... my ten year old and seven year old cousins are BIG ATLA fans and they just went to the movie a few weeks ago. They didn't even notice the skin color change. I think its so stupid that people are going on like this. Its a kids movie.

I think it's stupid that people assume it's not a big deal, and that the media has no influence on how children understand the world.

After hearing JR saying Sokka's name I clearly need to make some True Blood jokes, too. HE SAYS IT THE SAME WAY BILL SAYS SOOKIE'S NAME. WHAT. GOD, BOY, WHY SO MADE OF FAIL. I THINK IT'S INTENTIONAL, HE IS MESSING WITH US ALL TO SEE WHO BUYS THIS ACT.

Yue was uggllyyy, "sow-kuh" sucked, don't get me STARTED on katara and "ong" and the "aw-vuh-tarrr" and "eeeee-roh" and i swear i will cry if i end sitting in front of a fugly-looking guy whose name is "tuff" next movie.
yes, yes.. very nicely done. but even if they were zombies, THAT DOESN'T GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO RUIN THE MOVIE. (as short-azz as it was).
i like the sparkles.

It seriously sounds like Rathbone was pronouncing Sokka's name the same way Bill says "Sookie" in True Blood.

One, you are awesome for the Twilight snark. Two, you are awesomer for the TLA film snark. Three, you are a pretty awesome artist, so that makes you awesomer . . . er.

This is awesome. It disses my two cinematic hates: Twilight and The Last Failbender!. I've been arguing with people over the racebending and it's really heartening to find people who agree with me. Jackson's Rathbone's remark about getting a tan pretty much annihilated the love I had for him due to his Criminal Minds role. But anyways, amazing art and great viewpoint.

Shoooooooooockingly I actually am at least entertained by the twilight films. But I think that is also because RPattz and KStew clearly hate the series and make fun of it and that comes through in their acting, so the movies are like a satire of themselves. Seriously, KStew refusing to say a line of Bella's from the book because "THAT'S FUCKING STUPID"? Brilliant~
But even then, yeah, unless you give Rathbone a psychosis to play (MPD in Criminal Minds, PTSD in the last Twilight where he was at least not just making SEIZURE FACE all the time) he could be out-acted by a block of wood.

I'm sorry I don't want to sound like I hate the movie; but the casting...was wrong. I don't hate the actors, but I think M. Night and Paramount Studios made a bad move. AND just when Disney started to break the race barriers with the release of "The Princess and the Frog"

I'm sure Noah and Nicola are wonderful and decent people, though Jackson kind of shoved his foot in his mouth enough times for me to label him as "DOUCHEBAG".
And I do hate the movie, so that's A-OK to make statements like that here!

I admit it really is disappointing the way they really don't do enough research for the movie, and I'm kind of sad. I was a little excited when they first started showing the trailers.
But enough about that, since I never watched more than the pilot of the TV show. This made me giggle a bit.

That's the thing too THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO DO RESEARCH, EVEN. T-they just had to copy the show which was impeccably researched.
That's like having the opportunity to cheat off the smartest kid in class's homework without fear of ever being caught and instead deciding to fill in the bubbles on your test to make the shape of a kitty. A poorly-drawn kitty.

"Best actor for the role" my ass. A block of wood could out-act Jackson Rathbone as of late. The first and only thing I saw him in where he was decent was Criminal Minds.

I used to get in SUCH arguments with people when they basically cut all of Shyamalan's movies to "the twist", because they are/were SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT.
But dude if he's gonna pull shit like this, open season. In fact, I think I'll find a way to add "WHAT A TWIST!" to all of my Avatar Movie protest stuff.

Since they didn't wear kimonos in the show(or the movie), I really don't see why it would matter which way you fold it.
But that's just my view on the matter.

omni-sama In reply to thepyve [2010-06-02 17:05:54 +0000 UTC]
Er, yeah, the point the others in the replies to your comment were trying to make is that the folding rule applies to more than Japanese kimono. Also, "kimono" isn't exactly what you think it is... You've got in mind the brocade formal robe with long, drooping sleeves...that's...ones form of a kimono. Only one type. Kimono essentially means "clothing," but is often used to reference the sorts of robes/tunics that you wrap across yourself (like what Katara and Sokka wear).
Regardless, the method of folding clothing across the chest (no matter the style or East Asian nation) is all done a certain way, with the opposite being representative of a corpse or dead person. Everyone in the animated series observes this rule. Everyone. Doesn't matter the cut or style of the outfit, if part of it folds across the chest to close it, it will fold the left side over the right.
The film does not observe this rule. It has Katara, at least, folding hers as if she were a corpse. This is a massive faux pas, and why this artwork was mocking it.
Clear now?

Capslock mode, ENGAGE.
HEY.
GUESS WHAT.
THE LADIES IN AVATAR ALL WORE HANBOKS, KIMONOS, AND HANFUS. ALL FOLDED LEFT OVER RIGHT. UNLIKE TLA!FAILTARA'S COSTUME.
SONG'S HANBOK WAS FUCKING ADORABLE, BTW.
THE MOVIE IS STRIPPING ALL OF THIS AWAY (AS WELL AS REPLACING CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY WITH GIBBERISH).
THE MOVIE IS A SHITFEST ON ALL FRONTS. THE CASTING WAS A RED FLAG, ALL THAT FOLLOWED IS FUCKING FAIL.
GO BACK TO DEFENDING THIS TRAINWRECK ON ASN. SIT THE FUCK DOWN.
REWATCH THE SERIES. BUY THE ARTBOOK. FUCK THIS FILM.

so, that part in the series where it's Avatar Day, and they're looking for Kyoshi's relics and the guy says "And this is her KIMONO"
wasn't a big enough hint? Wow. Yeah. Okay then!
