Description So I was cruising through DA one day, when I happened upon a club that was dedicated to Star Wars. But not just any Star Wars topic. It was dedicated solely to the Star Wars games, Knights of the Old Republic.
I happen to have played the game myself (both of them) and thought that the site was loads of fun. Lots of comics. However, I noticed that there were no submissions dedicated to the droids HK-47 and T3-M4. These are both characters that have appeared in both games and were both wonderful characters just bursting with charisma. Yet no one seemed wanted to touch them on this site. And it’s not like there’s a lack of subject matter that fans make stuff about. These two guys have lots of history together. Common!
So I decided to take matters into my own hands and honor these guys with my own little tribute.

About the actual comic, now:
One thing that always struck me as funny is the way these guys talk. T3 can only speak in binary (so all you hear is *beep beep beep*) and HK always has to begin his sentences by first stating the type of sentence he is about to speak.
Another funny thing is that in the second game is that you get a third droid named G0-T0 (usually pronounced: Goto). Of all the people that have played this game that I have talked to, no one actually uses this character. No one likes him, no one uses him. He is essentially a useless character. That’s what I wanted to say with the comic.

*side note: HK is holding a coffee mug that says “Sith Happens”. In retrospect, it may have been funnier if he was holding a can of beer*

Random Elcor: "Confused and frustrated, What the hell is going on here?!"

T3: *Pissed off series of tweets and beeps*

HK-47: "Threat: One more word out of you, and I'll take that Astromech badge of yours to the Workshop table and-"

Elcor: "Badassfully, that badge is the only thing keeping him from killing you right now."

HK-47: "Observation: Shouldn't you be in the Mass Effect universe, by the way?"
Elcor: "Matter of factly, hey, you're right. What am I doing on this ship?"

HK-47: "Statement: At this point, I have no idea about anything..."

G0t0 really was just sorta thrown into the party last minute, wasn't he? The team dynamics were really playing well off one another before he showed up.

I never took G0-T0 with me. I just couldn't stand his arrogance.

He's the weirdest character, isn't he?
He's the most powerful crime lord in Nar Shaddaa, but not because he wants to be rich or anything, but because he wants to control the industry so he can make a more "orderly" society. Or something like that. It's been a while since I last played the game.

nightchildmoonchild In reply to Bug-Off [2016-01-21 19:38:45 +0000 UTC]

As I recall, he wished to save the Republic, but doing so involved using less than legal means in order to keep it running, thus he became a crime lord.

Typical droid logic, am I right?

nightchildmoonchild In reply to Bug-Off [2016-01-22 03:11:02 +0000 UTC]

I think that's the issue in general with machines.

Bear with me on this: we are an inherently flawed race, therefore any creations we make, including machines, are inherently flawed. An intelligent machine, therefore, would magnify human flaws in its thought process, whilst trying to correct its flaws. Hence, G0-T0.

Bug-Off In reply to nightchildmoonchild [2016-01-22 23:37:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, flaws are subjective, as is perfection.
What's a perfect droid supposed to look like and do?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nightchildmoonchild In reply to Bug-Off [2016-01-23 21:06:46 +0000 UTC]

Therein lies the crux.

I suppose I could give my opinion on the matter:

-The perfect droid would fulfill its objectives within the parameters of Asimov's Three Laws

-If obedience of the Three Laws would ultimately lead to a fatal situation, however, the perfect droid would have to bypass such laws, hence G0-T0, but within one key difference, listed below.

-The perfect droid seeks to understand organic life, rather than supplanting it with inorganic life

You have to establish what values are important.
What do we value? What values conflict and when? How do we maximize these values? What values take priority over other values?

The problem is I don't think there IS an ultimate standard set of values that give you a roadmap to the right answer in every conceivable situation.

One could make the argument that there's nothing wrong with G0-T0. He's a fully functional autonomous person with his own set of values that he is pursuing to the best of his ability.

He actually did survive till the clone wars. For some reason he was on a hammerhead class cruiser that crashed on mustafar and got buried. After awhile a earthquake reviled it and separatist found it. They found HK in it hoping to makes one new battle droid after him they activated him, and he started to kill every thing. He destroyed several super droids, and Destoyer droids.

I can't speak for everyone, but G0t0 felt to me like an unnecessary thrown-in character. As a party member, he was never as good a fighter as my other characters, and story wise his role was pointless after the Nar Shadaar campaign. Sure, he showed up at the end to mess up Remote, but that part of the story never really got resolved. We never got to see how they managed to blow up the Mandalorian planet with G0T0 standing in the way, so why even include him at all? I just never knew what to do with him.

darklordAWSOMEDUDE In reply to Bug-Off [2012-11-07 01:49:02 +0000 UTC]

at the end he said "if the general wants to blow up malachor v, we blow up malachor v."
"if he doesn't, we don't"
and remember every time you resolved pplanatary crap
he gave you alot of money
plus on the feild he's like a floating target that's 2 reasons why he's good to have around
I hear thee hk-50 factory mod they replace goto with an hk-48 model sadly they never finished costructing the mod

Are you referring to Archer145's "HK Factory Reconstructed" mod? It is finished. And yes, you replace G0-T0 with an HK unit.
And although it's cool, I'm with you: I would not replace G0-T0. After all, his abilities are helpful.

Yeah but good or evil, the Exile still blows up the planet. Remote wants to blow up the planet, G0T0 wants to blow it up if the Exile does, and the Exile wants to blow up the planet. Everyone wants this planet GONE! So why even have this plot point in there?

And I think I can tell you WHY they had it in there! Because they were originally going to make the game longer with more content! But time constraints forced them to cut a lot of it out. So there likely was a time when this G0T0 plot would've mattered and it would've finished the story arc off a lot more soundly. Sadly it's not.

darklordAWSOMEDUDE In reply to Bug-Off [2012-11-08 02:26:40 +0000 UTC]

well acually if you take the dark side ending you don't blow up the planet, still kill kreia, and asume the dark throne. the reason the planet is around is that malchor is mentioned many times in the game and a few imes in the first. so don't you think players would say "damn I wonder what the planet is like" boy did they let us down though. i mean this is malachor!? a dead world with only lizard monster things?! But I didn't want the planet gone. I wanted to assume the sith lord title. thats why I took the dark side ending. but again they REALLY let us down don't you think. they could have put more effort into this. but hey I didn't make this

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bug-Off In reply to darklordAWSOMEDUDE [2012-11-09 06:20:33 +0000 UTC]

The planet was supposedly half destroyed anyway, but yeah, it has "typical alien planet" written all over it.

Of course, some of it may have been because they wanted it to look like the sort of planet that a sith lord would decide to open up a base of operations on.
