Description Concept art/location for Flurry the Bear series of novels, ongoing series of commissions to sketch out a number of locations with architectural and geographic features, all different, but with quite a few castles and cities.Β

Technique: Pencil, black ink pen and a little white watercolor for highlights. I'll be adding to this later, adding to the left and right, and picking out details. Β

Beautiful!, tell me please, what do you use to make a mountain of white?

MMMM good question , very easy really, just a broad brush and some white watercolor, "Chinese white" will work. There are also markers/paint markers that work well, need to check your local art supply to see what they have. But a tube of white watercolor and a couple brushes will always work and will last for many years (as a supply).

Thanks you!Β Drawing white on black is what I lacked in traditional art.

Sadly this is on the end of a looong day catching up after being offline for a couple of months.

"Sad" because after posting so many comments, I feel drained of saying anything substantive for what really should. It is an excellent piece and shows a lot of general details which is very difficult to do and not have repetition.
I especially like the white highlights added which really complement the shadows, combined with the graphic of the background.

Wow, beautiful. Architecture is something I find a bit difficult and I love the work you do and Β use it as reference in some personal studies. Great stuff!

Hey you wanna be a villain in the series? You'll have to work for free though. But you get your own castle.

I fit these between the hard-core architectural drafting, joist system design, beam span "lite" engineering, foundation analysis and design, materials calculations and estimates, and other fun stuff. A new house should be starting next week Monday so I'm in full overload mode he he.. What's up in ATL Mitch?

mostly kitchen type work, that nobody else will or can do. some work with a sculptor , but just his mold making or fabrication. My main client split off and started a new company but took a young in house guy with him so until he gets back up to speed I will have to waitΒ for sculpture wok from him. But not bad all in all, I am getting grass growing under my river birch and still finding lots of volunteer plants that the guy that did the flip cut back or covered up.Β

What kind of kitchen stuff 'zactly?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MitchMitton In reply to Built4ever [2014-07-13 02:38:40 +0000 UTC]

Well mostly cabinet matches. they have something by a company or craftsman that is not around anymore. So I have to run textures or molding to match and then of course there is that stain color that is 20 to 30 years old and the new stuff has to match. So the ordinary knock them together guy will not touch these.
Then there are pickets and fence post to match Christmas tree pattern from Williamsburg or Charleston. Again close will not do so I usually come in after some local guys says sure I can do that and of course the customer is mad because he took the money and it is not what they want.
But the best part is they do not want me to work on these 'specials' for as long as it takes to get it right even though they had a firm bid and time does not count. that is all......
