Description
Continuing the evolution and design of the master plan for the fictitious Village of Emerald Grove, this is now hereby christened "McIntosh Street" (apples?), which you can find on the master map/plan, labeled as "Cottage Row" (for now.) The four pages of cottage-homes are exactly as you see them in my sketchbook-compilation. So the houses appear in order as you go down the street, with labeled lots (for now) which will be eventually changed to proper addresses (we'll see.) Map/ground plan was carefully drawn on one sheet of paper (8"x11" A4 size) with a very careful curvature, proper street width, two back alleys for access to carriage houses and other outbuildings, a scale, and the beginnings of some lot dimensions drawn in lightly. Scale is about 1/8" = 15 feet.Homes are all drawn in scale 1/16" = one foot, then I use micron black and brown ink pens with watercolor to bring them to life.

That happens with music too. It grows on you and then it becomes your favorite. It's like acquiring the taste of a fine wine.

#16 is my first choice and then #18. I'd love to wind up in a house like this!

1, 2, 3 and 14 looks like a lot of Danish old rowhouses/ cottages. 6 and 9 gives me an austrian vibe, even though you said most of them were inspired by english building traditions. They are all very pretty, wish i could live in one of those.

They're so cute! And, OMG, they actually became inspirations for real houses?! That's awesome!

I don't think they're so much "unusual" as more having a look of "grown over time".
Some of those I'd like to see in person and explore

Well, certainly #4 is VERY eccentric, not something I could persuade a client to build I think he he...

That actually reminds me of a home I saw in one of Germanys older city centres. Grown over time and then at one point they just set a new one-piece-roof atop so all those tiny holes from adding one more room and another one are finally sealed
Or it was in Ireland? Or southern England? Damn, too many travels!

For real. I need to clone myself 18 times so I can live in all of these houses at once.

I could see several of these being developed into plans, and possibly even built!! I could easily see myself living in them.
By the way, what is the disposition of the craftsman style bungalow you built?

It's still for sale. The builder put a higher price on it than the one next door we built, with no bonus room. I think it should be lower.

These are lovely. They make me think of my grandfather's vast collection of David Winter cottages. Different, of course, but the style is similar.
