burningmonk In reply to ArtsyJorgie [2019-02-05 03:48:00 +0000 UTC]

It's a double-exposure in the camera, basically two pictures in one.

Buddy, I can't wrap my head around how you did this. I know nothing about photography except I know what I like. I love this but if you can spare a moment to explain how you achieved this that'd be so awesome!

burningmonk In reply to FranktheRogue [2019-01-20 04:47:41 +0000 UTC]

Basically, I took two photos in one shot. This makes more sense when you think about shooting with film when double exposure techniques like this were invented. What you do with film is take one photo, then normally you would wind the film forward a bit and then take another photo. In the case of double exposure, you would just take the second photo without winding the film. The result would be a superimposed image, one on top of the other. I did this with a digital camera but the technique is the same. I took one photo, the camera didn't 'wind the film' (i.e. it kept the data in memory without saving it), and I took another photo onto the first one. Then the camera saved the image data as a single photograph. Anyway, I hope that helps!

!  May I use this image in my book about a 4D Earth?   A 4D city would look more or less like that.

Its mathematics, not fiction.  Unless you think all math is fiction.

Well, it depends, are you selling the book? If you are making money, then I would prefer that you don't use it unless I am to be compensated. Feel free to send me a note with more details about your project. Thanks!
