A giggle made Shard open his eyes again.

He didn't know what time it was, it didn't really matter. It was still night, and he still had a very much awake infant in his arms. He looked down to his infant daughter, giving a soft groan. "Nnn... You love me, right, Argent...?" he whimpered. "They say babies need sleep to grow, so... why in the name of Chaos are you still awake...!?"

He looked over to his wife, who looked as exhausted as he was, though she was smiling as she bounced Argent's twin brother, Nicholas. "Yes, she loves you, Shard... too much to stop looking at you."

Shard sighed. "When I agreed to this, I wasn't planning on having to be up all hours of the night."
Argent gave a happy squeal, reaching up towards his face. Shard managed to smile. "I'd be upset with you if you weren't so cute, you know that?"

"Oh yeah, she does..." Nicole replied. "...It's gonna be a loooong night."

I don't have kids, but I do have five little siblings, and remember hearing my parents get up at all hours of the night to get them up when they cried.
