Description So this is my working place with (almost) all my current art supplies. On my birthday next week I'll get a box of the best watercolour pencils in the world too, Cretacolor Marino ^-^

Also PLEASE NOTE I HAVE A PINK LAPTOP. And yes, it's exactly the same as Penny's from The Big Bang Theory - but I had it first!

yes, we all like  the  big w, woolies,  target,  kmart,  back to school  sales,  I  make  lego cases,  each  year, and,  sort my  lego dimentions,  pencils  get  shorter,  to  just  draw in a book each  day  from art  class training, it  still remains,  never  forget that, its  like we  wait  for that  new pencil,  small,  to  send us  back to  school , draw and see things as we wonder, draw  them, . and  well, a  a lego builder  always  draws,. its  like mr  magoriums  wonder  emporium,  never know  reality  without,  going into the void.

Oh hey, I use some of those. And I love seeing other people's work spaces! Mine is almost empty and probably boring right now since I've set a new computer up last week.

Ich. Will.

Die mittleren, sind das Schmincke?

(Meh, ich war gestern so blöd, auf einem Bösner-170-Gramm-Block mit Wasserfarben zu malen. Das Papier hats so zerbröselt. -.-)

Danke! Das scheint was ziemlich Praktisches zu sein. *habenwill* *____*

button-bird In reply to ColurMidna [2013-04-29 09:05:26 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry to hear about health problems, I hope you get better soon! I can give you a piece of advice though, if you want to hear it: drawing doesn't happen on the computer, and a pencil is very affordable. Paper can be found anywhere, it doesn't have to be *~super fancy special expensive drawing paper~* - I don't have that either. I've drawn on Kleenex before because there was nothing other at hand, and there's a great artist drawing on paper lunch bags. Any box of coloured pencils from the kids' section in the supermarket can serve just fine for even professional-level colouring, if you know what to do with them. There are professional artists who choose to work with the cheapest of supplies, and they are doing amazing things. Having expensive stuff is not making the artist any better.

I currently have a sketchbook from the cheap line from Daler&Rowney ("simply..."), and I have a mechanical pencil. Those two tools are what I need most, and all that is needed to draw - a pen and a sheet of paper. If you really want to draw, you always find a way, and if it's with a ballpoint pen you got somewhere for free and the backside of a food delivery service flyer.

Also I would not define myself as "spoiled". Along with studying, I have a little part-time job that allows me to buy art supplies. I can't afford the artist grade stuff, but that's not important. I've been drawing through many years without having any of the stuff you see on that photo, and it worked just fine. It's not the supplies that make an artist, it's the will to practice.

ColurMidna In reply to button-bird [2013-04-29 09:27:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I didn't mean to come off saying that you are spoiled. I am aware that drawing traditionally is available to most people but with my wrist how it is because Ive drawn so much on it with pencils and with a mouse, I literary have to use a mic to write things down since I can't use a pencil. ;n; I was stupid enough to draw on it anyways sometimes which was probably not a good idea.

Sorry if I came off rude at all D:

No it's ok. You could try to learn to use your other hand. It might take some time, but people have done it before, so why not give it a try

ColurMidna In reply to button-bird [2013-04-30 18:18:25 +0000 UTC]

I think I will. Maybe I can look up ways to get better with a different hand. Thanks for the idea~

They are awesome! I'm often sketching on the way, so I just can't bring a water tank and lots of different brushes and stuff, so I have the cheap Cotman watercolours in my Altoids box, the clipped-off top of an old sock as tissue which also fits in the box and my waterbrushes with me. Small yet effective! ^-^

button-bird In reply to sonyaism [2013-04-29 09:11:56 +0000 UTC]

haha, yup! we don't really have tissues in other forms here - there exist these cardboard boxes you can rip one after the other from, but not many people buy them. when I've been to the States in march, I was desperately trying to find pocket packs because I had a cold, yet they were REALLY hard to find!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sonyaism In reply to button-bird [2013-04-30 03:27:43 +0000 UTC]

Haha. That's really funny. They are hard to find in the states and I always stock up on them because I always have some form of running nose whether it be sick or just the cold weather. But I always have the box of tissues at home and using them like crazy for everything.

What's the tabletish thing above the alphabet box? Also what brand of pencil crayons do you use? Awesome collection....how many years did it take to collect all of the shown?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

button-bird In reply to murtaghmorzansson [2013-04-28 23:03:20 +0000 UTC]

That's a graphic/drawing tablet. ^^ Wacom graphire 4, almost ten years old by now, but still working fine. I've not used it much for several years though, only got it out again a few months ago.

My coloured pencils are Koh-i-Noor Mondeluz. They are water-soluble, which is nice because I don't really like it when you can see the lines too much, and adding a little water to a coloured picture makes the colours really bright and popping.

Except for the tablet and my laptop, all that stuff is rather new, not older than a year. I don't have really expensive supplies because I get frightened of "wasting them" easily, so I enjoy getting cheap to middle-priced stuff and just mess around with it as much as I want. For the watercolours, the small box are the rather cheap, yet nice Winsor&Newton Cotman half pans glued into an Altoids mints box. The "bigger" box (yet still very handy) are rather pricy but of amazing quality Schmincke watercolours, student grade so I can allow myself to actually use them.
