...

It's, uh, yeah.

It's WTF Friday.

This is... uh...

This is the first time I've ever been truly ashamed of drawing something. Like, not 'this picture is of poor quality' ashamed, but deep, soul-scarring shame. I-can-never-scrub-hard-enough-to-clean-away-the-dirt shame.

Anyway, this stems from something that really, really disturbed me as a kid; anthro animals owning pet animals. When I was a young girl, I owned this book... a little Minnie Mouse picture book, about her and her friend's new puppy. The thing that really, REALLY freaked me out was the fact that her friend was a dog. It was a dog owning a dog.

I just couldn't get my head around it... it was so unnerving. Was the pet dog a slave? Was it considered a lesser being for some reason, and subjected to such treatment? Was it a dog of lower iq, and therefore destined to be the plaything of some sociopathic child?????? What sort of dystopian future was this??!!???

Yeah, I dwelled on this a bit too much for a six-year-old... or maybe not enough. Don't give me that 'they're just the unevolved versions of the anthro animals, like monkeys and humans' excuse. No, there's something far more sick at play here... far, far more disturbed.

Like everything else in the world, apparently this phenomenon has a TV tropes page: [link]

;___;

PS: Can you tell who my least favourite cartoon character is?
PPS: Goofy Movie was a solid film. No lies.

PPS: Agreed, I still get teary-eyed when I watch it.
Also, I had the biggest child-boner for Max. But I didn't grow up to be a furry, so I guess I'm okay.

It has always bother me too.

There was this really old cartoon show I used to watch at 2 in the morning, it was about Cowboys that were cows XD All the towns people were animals and the things that weirded me out was the fact they rode horses. See this wouldn't be too bad except for the fact that one of the ladies one of the characters flirted with was also a Horse ;_; That's really creepy.

OMB I found a fricking clip!

You see the blue one in the clip? He was my favorite it >> His name was Dakota, and he was the strong silent type.

But seriously, ANY man in a cowboy hat with a partially concealed hat and dirt caked boots turns me on even if he's ugly as hell.

Not as weird as my being turned on by Timothy Dalton's voice >//////>

Oh bob, I'm not the only one

I am always so creeped out by how that man turns me on... >///>

I was watching Doctor Who one day and heard that sexy voice I was like "Oooooh who is that" and then it revealed to be Timothy Dalton and I was like "Whut? ._." Thought it wasn't a let down like when mom and I found out that the sexy voice in Jumping Jack Flash was just Jonathon Pryce :3

Awesome. Pluto looks so creepy in this pic! But it's something I've always wondered about as well. I guess Goofy is a more evolved dog man, like humans versus monkeys.

Sohalias-Light In reply to ??? [2011-05-14 23:36:44 +0000 UTC]

That was always creepy, indeed. Also, in the Arthur series, Arthur had a pet dog named Pal, and his friend Fern was totally a dog. That was just creepy, although they made it cute in the animated series when Pal could talk to his baby sister (and had an adorable British accent) and they totally went on amazing adventures of their own.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Buuya In reply to Sohalias-Light [2011-05-15 15:48:36 +0000 UTC]

Arthur! What a great show. The animal-animal thing weirded me out, but I think they handled it a bit better than other cartoons because the characters were such ambiguous creatures (for the most part.) They were more human than animal... maybe that helps?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sohalias-Light In reply to Buuya [2011-05-16 02:10:09 +0000 UTC]

Definitely. There is a big distinction between fully clothed anthropomorphic creatures and those who act entirely like animals- don't speak, don't have humanized proportions, and interact with the characters in the same manner as any pet would.
