I am thinking of making a musical instrument.

I looked at the plans and in my opinion, this was the hardest part to put together. So I decided to make it first.

The wood is rock maple that I was able to salvage from a old piece of furniture made in the 1950's. My grandfather gave me a credenza that he said was not worth repairing and that I should use the wood to make something else.

It is interesting to carve. I had to sharpen my chisels every 5th or 6th cut.

I have a test piece made for testing finishes. I found some stain to fill in the crevices and it really makes the piece pop. I will probably post pictures when that is done.
