Description
Here's a little bouillabaisse of Lovecraftian horror and Celtic art. A marriage not made in heaven, obviously, but given the subject - well, that's just fine.Cthulhu, known among necromancers as "The Elvis of the Great Old Ones", is possibly not dreaming here - as we hope he continues to do - but its hard to be sure with those pearly eyes. Anyway his tentacles divide and dissolve into bands of Celtic knotwork in a way that pleases me. I always dread treating part of these animal-like patterns in a realistic way when I need to flatten them out elsewhere in the design; but this time, possibly due to Cthulhu's intervention, I managed it pretty well, I think.
The digital painting (Photoshop) was created for a T-shirt design for my newly relaunched Saga Shirts site ( [link] ) where I'm now doing a new line of full color shirt designs, rather than the silkscreened shirts I had there before. The budget-minded should be told that those older shirts are now marked down. I've been adding designs there like crazy for the past couple of weeks and whenever I keel over and stop, that might mark the end of my current knotwork binge. It's okay, I've got other things that need tending.

This is so bizarre - on the first look, it's beautiful... but the second makes my skin crawl. Excellent artwork!

Weirdly enough, or not, that used to be my license plate - or anyway, BZ NEES. I'm really enjoying your gallery too!

Terribly original if I say so myself. I'm pleasantly surprised how well Cthulhu translates into... Erm... Celtic tentacle knots.

lovecraft and knotwork. i have died and gone to goth-geek heaven! This is so stunningly executed. It kinda makes my 'cute' cthulhu plushie idea seem incredibly disrespectful when held up against work that actually reveres the awesomeness of lovecraft. not that its gonna stop me doing it though!

...an amazing, striking piece...well done. 14 colour T-shirt print? Holy crap. I have been screenprinting T's for almost 20 years, and I haven't done more than 8 colour designs or 4 col. process. $25 is definitely a fair price.

Oh, this is just too cool!!! I love it. I especially like the transition from rounded tentacles to flat bands through flattened partly-rectangular bands, that's beautiful.

This is just... wonderful. I found it in *somk 's faves, and was instantly besotted. What marvellous colours and knotwork- and tentacles! Two of my favourite things combined. Excellent work.

It can happen - most often in the gloaming of evening, when the lowering skies somehow display a character that is at once sinister and oddly batrachian - that a merciful veil can be drawn over our eyes which conceals the terrible, unspeakable truths of those most eldritch Deviations in that very moment in which they're spawned.
Or, you know, maybe you just sort of missed it .

Positively wicked! The knife-like shape at the bottom is a good touch that adds another element of menace. =cogwurx mentioned that it looked like a door that should never be opened. I agree, but it also looks like a book (tome, grimoire, your choice) that should also never be opened.

dreadfully spectacular. I don't know whether to be amazed or frightened at how well Cthulhu has lent himself to the application of knotwork...
in any case, the subject matter aside, the technique and execution is excellent
