Description Awww, got to finish one of my personal artwork pieces, which features me in form of my Allosaurus, who is having a rest under the canopy of the nearby trees. This place isn't a random beach scene, no, it is Cathy's Beach from "Jurassic Park: The Lost World" and I decided to have a little nap, but something caught my attention. So, I rose my head from the warm and sandy ground to pin point the source of noise. Since, my Allosaurus seems to be rather curious than on alert. Maybe, it's just a small Compsognathus rustling between the bushes or maybe a lovely allosaur to fall in love with.

Almost, I thought I wouldn't find the time to finish this beach scene, because I had worked on other drawings, while also experiencing the ups and downs of my life as well. But now it is finally done.

As always a huge "thank you" flies out to you

Exactly, Live the Legend! The background is based on the scenes from JP: the Lost World a.k.a. Kathy's beach. The Allosaurus is my character Nova from Live the Legend.

It's based on the old role-play forum "Live the Legend" from Jurassic Park Legacy. The female Allosaurus had this maroon, white and black in their coloration.

Flop, man. I love this art style, that pose, your OC, and dinosaurs in general. This is probably my favorite of your work.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear about how much you love the drawing. It has been a long way to draw in that way, because I had to find out the way how to depict things like the plants. Looking at photos and at art of other artists helped then.
Thank you much for the watch and your appreciation!

Thank you much! I tried to recreate the scene from Isla Sorna as best as I was able to do.
I'll try, there are too many wonderful ideas and scenes to paint

Since I'm a Jurassic Park fan, there is always room for some JP related art.
I'm looking forward to this day to see some 3D dinosaurs emerging

I'm very flattered by this comment :3
I tried to get the best out from the screenshots I took of The Lost World, which where partially not as brilliant as I hoped. It was a long process until it resulted in the final image, because I worked very irregularly on the drawing, what led to a break of two months without any progress.

Wow...just...this is BEYOND incredible. What I'm even more amazed by than the level of detail in your drawing is the fact that you're improving dramatically so quickly. Just... *head explodes!*

Oh, please don't let you head explode, I would miss a lovely friend and dinosaur expert. Well, until I created the final result I redid many portions of the whole image like the grey / white looking tree in the background, but for explaining the revisions I need to create a time lapse video, which should be possible, because I saved the current outcome of the picture after each drawing session.
Besides of the screen shots I took of the scene in the movie, I also looked at Atrox1' picture , that shows two Lourinhanosaurus. I like how crisp and naturally shaded his works look, so this was a great source of inspiration, although he shows a different part of Cathy's Beach.

(I'll try to answer your mail as soon as possible. I know how important it is for you to improve your own art )

Nazrindi In reply to c-compiler [2015-10-13 04:29:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I LOVE that drawing by Atrox1, it's one of my absolute favorites.

Yes, a time lapse video would be really helpful. Can I ask what plants specifically you used as inspiration? I see ferns and some gingko leaves on the right hand side, in the "jumble" so to speak of plants, but the others I can't identify a species for. The large one by the Allo's hip in the distance looks like a certain variant of Aloe Vera plant I've seen before.

I composed a video in the late evening hours of yesterdayΒ www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqT3SP…

I primarily tried to capture the plants in this screenshot Β , but it's hard to guess what species are shown in the screenshot. Those on the right hand side, which are closer to the ground look like some sort of Yucca to me and the one you see in proximity to the Allo's hips looks like an Aloe Vera due to the broad leaves, but I think it is something different, because it is slender at its base unlike Aloe Vera. After using Google it could be a Cordyline terminalis .

Since the scene of Isla Sorna were shot on Kauai, you should look up Hawaiian plants as references.Β

I'm glad to hear this positive feedback and I'm lucky to show you and others the calm side of dinosaurs, theropods in particular.
Oh, and today I utilized the opportunity to spend some time at the shore of the local river and could feel the sand under my feet. It reminded me on this scene.

c-compiler In reply to Celestial-Rainstorm [2015-10-13 14:29:24 +0000 UTC]

That's probably one reason, why I try to spend my time in the nature. I live in an area with large river, where sparse forests are growing along the shores, so a mix of open lowland and forests are typical for this place. Thank you much, I'll try to keep the artistic flow flowing
