Updated 5/16/2009: Due to some unexpected free time, I finally managed to finish this picture once and for all. Aside from some heavy noon-day shade work, I also converted the cement slope into a metallic one, thus allowing for a little experimenting with reflection effects.Hope this little Gurren Lagann parody pic -- featuring Amiga-san, Vi-kun, a rather rare chibi UNIX-sama, and a rather fortunate yours-truly (^__^) -- will brighten anyone's day. ^^

Updated 3/1/2009: Damn, so the following week turned out to be just as busy. ^^'
Tried to work on this as much as I could, but by the weekend I was already pretty burnt out, what with so many unexpected obligations piling up on me.
Still, I managed to vector-sketch Vi-kun cosplaying as Simon, a very amused Chibi Unix-sama, and a small... *cough cough*... cameo of yours truly, cosplaying as the mole-pig Boota. ^______^;
Also managed to work on a quick background and stylized logo, but these are subject to change.
Since I missed my deadline, I'll gracefully admit defeat and relinquish the shading for some other time. -v-

This is the current working draft of a Gurren Lagann + OS-tan cosplay picture, currently only featuring AmigaOS-tan cosplaying as Yoko Ritona. Special thanks go to for the original concept sketch! ^___^
Due to a very busy two weeks, I was unable to finish this before the biweek, so I'm only posting the vector sketch for now. In fact, I'll be postponing the update until this picture gets completed. -v-
Oh, and I didn't post this as a scrap since I do intend to finish it. ^^

And yeah, the reflection piece was a last-minute addition -- added about another hour or so to the workload, but well worth it I think since it prevents this from looking boring. ^___^'

I believe I did. At least, it showed up in my Deviations watch list for a second time. I'm assuming it also said "updated" in parentheses somewhere nearby and I just wasn't paying attention.

Thank you for the kind words -- even though I didn't use much blurring in this picture (given the original Gurren Lagann art is more flat and angular), I definitely enjoyed working with multiple light sources and the tricky reflection piece. ^^
Incidentally, Vi-kun (born 1976) is actually older than Amiga-san (born 1984/5) -- however, he's stuck forever in the child-type body whereas she has always been quite tall (183cm) and well-endowed, thanks in part to being such a great and powerful home computer system for her era.
Ironically, his modern "Vim" form was originally built on the Amiga platform and I didn't know this until a few minutes ago -- so the pairing (originally done for parody purposes) is not that far off-base. ^^
[I have forgotten about your shoe ride picture, btw,.. still typing up my assessment, although it's hard to really judge such a perfect picture as yours. ^___^ ]

Well, reuploading is basically resubmitting a deviation, meaning that you have to start over on faves and comments and such. Usually why I don't post too many WIPs.
If you just upload a new file as the same deviation, watchers and stuff aren't alerted to there being a "new" image.
At any rate, I'm positively LOVING this picture and looking forward to the final version! I'll save my swooning for then. d:

This is a fantastic-looking work in progress!
Not only does Amiga-tan coslaying as Yoko look adorable and suits her very well with the similarities in their personalities, I like all the Amiga references you added into her cosplay! I see:
1. Amy the Squirrel hairclip
2. Amiga-tan's squareish red hair ribbon that imitates one of the Amiga logos
3. The boing-ball pattern bikini
4. Blue scarf mimicing the blue colors in Amiga OS
5. Amiga rainbow checkmark logos on her boots
6. The rainbow pattern on the big freakin' gun!
I'm also guessing that the plunger holds some symbolism too!

Come to think of it, I guess Amiga-san DOES have a lot in common with later-life Yoko-san. ^^
Right down to the children part,.... even though, technically speaking, most of the "children" that she takes care of are way older than her.
As for all the references:
1) Correct! My mandatory homage to Amy the Squirrel, which fits very well here. ^.^
2) Correct! That one she wears all the time, though. ^^
3) *blushes* Actually, just the brassiere...
I never thought I'd dare make the boing balls more literal, but in this case it was just too.... appropriate..... -v-;

4) Correct! I needed to put blue somewhere. I had nearly forgotten about the scarf, so I was very close to making her shorts blue.
5) Correct! ^.^
I needed at least some reference to that iconic old logo from back in her Commodore service. That, and i couldn't really decipher what was in Yoko-san's boots. ^___^'
6) Correct! The superconducting rifle needed a little personalization. ^^
Fun fact: the real gun is actually much longer than Yoko-san is tall, but it should be as tall, if not slightly shorter, than Amiga. ^__^
7) Nah, the plunger is just there to show its harmless. Even when she was in the Commodore service, she never was much of a gunslinger. ^^
Might be a moot point if the superconducting part works thought. At the speed that thing is supposed to hurl projectiles, that plunger might as well be a Stinger missile.
