Confound these Minecraft ponies, they drive me to architectural addiction! >.<I kinda half-suspected that game would lure me away from Derpy for a while... but I finally broke free and worked on her with my full attention. ^___^

In any event, Derpy is my third favorite non-Mane6 pony, and everyone's favorite easter egg in Season 2. ^__^
Here she's demonstrating your usual run-of-the-mill pegasus hovering, and while the initial wing animation was done literally frame-by-frame (probably unnecessarily-so, but I'm rusty...
), her second wing is pretty much a clone of the first one + an inversion warp + a reposition + a dark overlay for the darker shade. Very big time savings there once the work is all done. ^^Definitely some room for improvement, though... the animation is only 26fps due to the peculiar way I did the wings using a single vector. Broken out between 3 or 4 different vectors, I can probably achieve a smoother look as well as the flexibility to export at higher frame rates without weird tween deformations.
But for now... enjoy this "derped" graphic. ^.^

Okay, that does make sense. I still have to go back and tweak the animation a little for other reasons, but I'll see if I can incorporate your suggestion in there since it's fairly simple (just a retiming thing). ^^

In fairness I did try to match this closely with the wing animation from the show, so you could say it's the Studio B/Top Draw peepz who are the professional animators (which they are). ^^

(A slightly OT question I've been wondering for a while but have never gotten the opportunity to ask - do you think you'll ever get into designing and possibly animating any OC ponies of your own?)

I've thought about it, but I don't have the same philosophy as I did before. I'm at the point where I rather just band together than go it alone, if only because that way I have more creative power freed upon to focus on my RL pursuits. ^^
Besides, since apparently I'm some kind of Minecraft prodigy (Bronycraft peoples' words, not mine), I guess I can focus on creating original pony architecture instead, which to help flesh out a fandom are no less important.

I've found frame-by-frame works best for wings. Actually it works best for most limbs :U

Yep. From what I've noticed, tweened and bones sometimes just muck up the animation. Especially if the part changes shape in the slightest.

Although in fairness to Synfig, it generally does a great job with tweening. It's really my fault for changing the shapes WAY too much (due to my general noobness).
