Description
Due to personal bias, I actually consider this portraiture to be my favorite of C-chan's works. One of his last Intermediate era works, experimenting heavily with multi-source lighting techniques and vector-based soft shading, the image features Windows CE-tan entranced by the humorous antics of Damn Small Linux-tan and her little brother Damn Small Linux-kun.Windows CE-tan is a miniature fairy, ranging in the vicinity of 15 to 30 centimeters depending on artistic preference. This should give you an idea of just how DAMN SMALL the siblings are in comparison to her. No alteration has been made to the original image, but an extra-large export model is available to download to get a better appreciation for the sibling's vantage point. Notice in particular how they're small enough to view the individual cells in CE-tan's wings. ^^
DSL-tan is holding her trademark penguin backpack in which she carries everything she needs (including even her own brother sometimes). DSL-kun is shown having fun with a holographic projection of TuxPaint, not particular mindful that the paint is dripping all over his "seat". Windows CE-tan's blushed smile is meant to be Mona Lisa-like in nature, free to interpretation by the whim of the viewer. Either she's charmed by their incredible cuteness, a bit embarrassed by the role of being the "giantess" for a change, or maybe even seriously wondering if these children are tasty. ^^'

Wow, you've got quite a collection of skills there, then! I had tried programming once, but found that it didn't seem to suit me. I didn't have the patience that was required, and debugging some of the more massive programs I had made resulted in more than a few gray hairs.
I agree with you that content is important... There's not a lot of the gentle, caring pictures on the internet, and even then, I just felt like there wasn't anything that was specifically 'up my alley,' so I went and tried to make just those pictures. ^_^
You know, it took me so long to get past that point of thinking I was a freak, to where I understood it was acceptable to have sexual interests that deviated from the common path. I mean, they had been teaching us sex-ed in school, but they never mentioned anything like that. I thought I was doomed to carry this dark little secret to my grave. How could I possibly tell anyone that I have a fascination with giant women? o_o
Of course, then I went online... I never spoke openly about my interests, just lurked... But seeing that there were people out there who shared this secret was a great comfort. And then, years later, I met Takai in an online game. Of course, my avatar was tiny (about 3'11"), and she thought I was cute (her avatar was actually very tall, around 6'6"). We started hanging out together, then became a couple... And a few weeks later, I decided that if it was going to be a serious relationship, I couldn't afford to hold anything back- I had to lay all my cards on the table. So I explained this fetish to her. And with a grace and affection I would have never thought possible, she just accepted it, and it became normal for us. Granted, there were lots of questions. It took some getting used to, because she hadn't even known it existed before that. But she liked knowing what buttons to push for me, and even went and made her avatar taller for my sake (She still chooses the tallest avatar possible in every game we play now. ^_^ )
After that, I started drawing again. I drew a couple of doodles of her SL Avatar, and then she convinced me to finally take part in the community I had been lurking in for the last ten years and post my art on this site here. It's helped finally break down what was left of that shell, and since then I've actually told my RL best friend and my Brother about it, and showed them my artwork. It's done tons to help me feel normal, and realize that there's nothing wrong at all with being different.
And I'll have to try out that program as soon as I get back on my computer! I'm always looking for great new stuff for drawing. ^___^

Hello again, O-Chibi-san. ^^
I should definitely compliment you in taking the initiative to fill a niche you saw lacking, in this case the oft-neglect "Gentle Giantess". While I admit I'm not 100% adverse to their more violent counterparts, I also admit that largely leads to the inevitable shyness (think, guilty pleasure), hence why I've made it a goal to ween myself off that. Gentler content is not only more marketable and a better representation of what we really stand for, but it can also be far more fun and creative if done properly [as you have]. ^^
And thank you for sharing details about your past perspective and your first encounter with Takai-san. If before you seemed to me like a fun, kindly and approachable artist who drew stuff I loved, now I can also add a newfound respect for your conviction and openness. Now, more than ever, it'd be my pleasure to draw that fanart,... perhaps even more than one even! ^__^
Speaking of which, Inkscape is a vector graphics program -- unless you've used something like Flash or Illustrator before, it will undoubtedly work a little differently from raster-based solutions. That being said, though, it offers some of the most intuitive vector tools I've worked with to "sculpt" my drawings.
If time permits for my next update this Sunday, I'll see about submitting a personalized "sample" of an SVG illustration to you,... a kind of pre-fanart if you will. ^^

Hello again!
I do agree that the gentler side is more approachable from a 'normal' audience, but that by no means makes violent GTS a lesser form of art. There's a need for them just as there is anything else. Perhaps, have you thought about finding a niche inside the violent side of things? I mean, there's lots of types of destructive giantesses. ^_^
I'm always happy to share my stories with someone, just be sure to stop me if I ramble too long, I have a tendency to do that sometimes.
I am pretty familiar with vector tools, actually- I use vector for all my lineart now, just because it gives such a high level of control. I still prefer raster coloring right now... But that's more because I have yet to find the right tool, I believe. My current vector coloring program is pretty unwieldy, and it makes coloring a chore.
I'm flattered that you would be willing to draw something like that for me, I'm very curious to see it! If you don't have time though, I'll understand, I don't want to be an inconvenience. I am honored that you would draw something for me at all.

For sure, if less-than-gentle actions are appropriate for any particular character in any given part of a story, yeah I've most certainly considered it. ^___^
Would definitely be against making it gratuitous, though -- I live with enough senseless violence around me to just keep heaping on more. Besides which, I've always favored more adventurous, more survivable, and more... uh... "unaware"... kind of scenarios. More so than sugary sweet or unnecessarily bloody by at least a leap and bound -- I wonder if you could call that a kinda compromise.... fufufu... ^___^
If I ever take up C-chan's unfinished project involving the overly-detailed portraiture of z/OS-sama, then maybe I could explore the genre further. As a taller-than-average Mainframe OS-tan (akin to goddesses in the OS-tan world), she's 60 meters tall, very strong, professional to a fault, arrogant, not terribly pleasant, and very unwilling to interact with 'mortals". When forced to venture outside her de facto "Mt. Olympus" (which is rare), she never particularly cares to watch where she steps.
This at least is her public face -- privately, she engages in more than a number of unusual pastimes to foment her goddess complex. But probably won't say more till this actually gets drawn -- probably a lot easier to describe in drawing than in words. ^^'
As for ramblings, don't worry. I've inherited C-chan's resistance to lengthy discussions, although I've yet to truly see if I can pull off the same Wall-O-Text's he was notorious for. ^___^;
It's actually pretty helpful that you're aware of and use vector graphics to a degree, since it'll offer you a more balanced outlook on the two. How much of a chore it is depends A) on the program itself, B) how the tools are used, and C) simply the artist's natural inclinations. I have a horribly unsteady hand, but a natural gift for component assembly, so "sculpting" pictures work better for me than drawing them. My impression is that it is the reverse for you, and that's perfectly good as well. After all, how masterful a drawing is ultimately depends on the artist's mastery of the tools, not the tools mastery over the artist. ^.^
Still, I am curious to see if at least reason "B" is a factor or not. Inkscape has very extensive and helpful online documentation, but if you'd do me the honor, you could also give C-chan's old Inkscape tutorial a quick skim through:
[link]
It's unfinished for various reasons, but covers enough of the basics to get one started. At least it'll serve as a hold-over till I look into completing that sample picture (yep, that's still on,.. in fact, I'm psyched about it... ^.^).

Well, see, you've gone and found a niche. I haven't seen much of the 'unaware' genre. In fact, I think it's more rare than the gentle giantess scenarios I'm so infatuated with.
The character you mentioned sounds really interesting though- I like that she's not malicious. She just can't be bothered. And the way you described her just sounds too cute! I'd really be interested in seeing her. ^_^
I'm excited to try this program out now that you've mentioned sculpting images. Even in my raster-based works, I spend a lot of time laying on color very slowly, building it up and blending it... Pretty much- sculpting it. I'll definitely check out the tutorial when I get the chance- right now, I'm busy-busy trying to finish my 100k picture, and I'm not even 1,000 away from my deadline now!
I think I can get it done though, I just have a little coloring left to go.
Anyhow, yay! Now I've got two things to anxiously await for- the sample picture you're working on, and perhaps the eventual revealing of your z/OS-Sama Goddess.
Eventually though, someone is going to have to explain to me this whole thing about the OS-chan characters, and why the Linux ones are so damned small. XD

I'm surprised by that too, but then a vast majority of our kin prefer some kind of interaction. For the level of size disparity that I fancy, interaction is not only dangerous/suicidal, it's probably also impossible. Fufufu... ^___^;
In any event, I did finish that sample picture just in time... ^___^

And the sauce file I sent to you via a Note, so feel free to check out the original (and see all the extra detail that is not visible in the PNG). Keep in mind that I did group a few objects (e.g., the candlelight), so if you find yourself unable to separate individual elements of something, hit CTRL+SHIFT+G to Ungroup them immediately. ^__^
I hope you'll have fun playing with the SVG -- I definitely had tons of fun making that drawing. (and yes, it kinda sorta plays to my niche too...) ^^
OS-tans are anthropomorphic personifications of Operating Systems created by freelance artists for free distribution and proliferation. It first started in Japan with the creation of a Windows ME-tan, 2000-tan and XP-tan and grew from there to encompass Macs and a token Linux. C-chan eventually came on board to a Western OS-tan fanboard, and he along with BellaCielo, Kattlanna and several others started expanding the OS-tan list even further with many more OS-tans. After all, Windows represents only a tiny fraction of all the operating systems in existence now and for the past 50 years, so we've had tons of drawing material. ^___^
The Linux-tans number in the thousands, btw, and for the most part are fairly normal sized. The sister and brother duo above are an obvious exception, as they represent Damn Small Linux -- a tiny, feature-complete Linux distribution that can fit inside 50MB. Puppy Linux-tan is also small (since it's also a minimalist distribution), but not nearly as much as she's appropriately "puppy-sized". ^___^

Now I'm totally curious, I have to ask- what's your favorite size relationship? I can kind of tell from what you just mentioned that it's a pretty drastic difference, but I'd love to hear more about it. I have pretty broad definition of at what points interaction is possible, after all. ^_^
The OS-Tan concept sounds fun too... I've seen tidbits here and there, but I never really understood so much- I hadn't really heard of the miniature Linux clients, hence why I didn't get their minute size.

Fufu... well I entered the OS-tan world knowingly only about Windows, Mac, DOS, this thing called "Linux" and Amiga,... and came out of it with my eyes opened to millions of systems, each with their own degree of fun and wackiness. Suffice to say, it's been both fun and informative. ^-^
What's my size preference? If you're talking about normal human sizes, greater-than-a-head height difference, coupled with a smaller mass, is probably where things start to get really interesting. The mass part is important, since short + stocky defeats the purpose almost as much as a tall + anorexically-thin.
if we're talking fantasy, than an "inch-tall" ratio is the most I'll go up to, before some very creative story-telling techniques are required to keep me from yawning. Of course, i would applaud any artist/writer who could work effectively with lower millimeter sizes (or the upper micrometer range). The smaller you go, the more imagination you need [I feel] to work with both real-world physical limitations AND conjuring up visions of unexplored microscopic worlds. -v-

The whole OS-tan thing sounds like a lot of fun! I really only knew about a few of the operating systems, I had no idea the world was so huge. I wonder if they have a VaxCat-Tan. ^_^
It's interesting that your preference is more dependent on mass than height. I suppose I have much the same interest though, now that I consider it.
And I'm really interested by your talk of such a huge difference of scale as that. I had never thought of it before, but when you mention it like that as if it was a challenge to be overcome, it's hard not to see it in a different light. One of these days, I very well may have to draw something in said scale just to see if I can! It would make for a Damn Big Takai.

Wow... even I've never heard of that one. ^^
I know VAX, which was a line of minicomputers and workstations (or more specifically the architecture for them) created by the Digital Equipment Corporation, from which VMS-tan was born (I have at least one drawing of her posted up). But the general rule for us (me, Katt-chama and Bella-sama) is simple: if it doesn't exist, we draw it. ^___^
The realization of mass >= height came when I realized I wasn't much of a fan of Małgorzata Dydek, even though she was incredibly tall. In contrast, Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Gamova, who's also tall but not as much, has a bit more meat on her and is certainly more anatomically-proportional. Thus, in my opinion, she's gorgeous, stunning, and precisely what the doctor ordered! Mmm-mmm-mmmmmmm... ^^
Unless you already know her, Youtube is replete with interesting clips of her.... [link]
As for the micro-scale thing, I suppose you could say I've always been a sucker for adventure. Formulaic stuff like all the endless "insertion" stories bore the hell out of me. If I'm gonna have the opportunity to explore the epic wonders of the microverse, I'd want to embark in the spirit of discovery, science and poetic AWE, where a lightbulb can become as brilliant as a noonday sun, wood-floor grooves would be like endless canyons teeming with life, and hairs [of,.. uh... any particular body part ^^' ] would be like an evergreen forest. The occasional guilty pleasure aside, I would NOT want to have anything but sex on the head... if anything, that would be a great way of getting oneself killed, as some of the better stories aptly illustrate.

I just remember the Vax Systems because my dad used to work with them all the time back when I was a kid. He would get all kinds of merchandise sent to him from them too, so I naturally had a Vax Cat Hat (their mascot was the Vax Cat), and my Decus tradeshow T-Shirt. I was a nerd before I knew it.
I can see what you mean about the mass to height thing. I have heard of Ms. Gamova, also. It's rather difficult for someone who has an interest like ours to not hear of her. ^_^
You know, it's hard for me to think of a way to say this, but damnit, you make that height sound fun. Granted, it's still not my thing, but you make it sound all kinds of epic and adventurous.
I don't quite understand what you mean when you say 'I would NOT want to have anything but sex on the head' though. I think it must simply be late, or something, but I just can't seem to wrap around what sex on the head is, or why you would want to have it so badly.

Eeep.. I'm sorry, yeah, it's very late for me, so I mistyped that a lot and it sounds very wrong upon rereading it (damn this stupid DeviantARt comment system that won't allow edits! >v<
What I meant to say is that I despise those stories which in the first paragraph have the guy shrink to the obligatory 3-6 inches (or the girl grow to 50 or 100 feet), and from that point on till the end of the story it's just one extended porn session, usually with the same formulaic elements. I lost count of how many such stories I used to come across with that same premise -- sometimes i wonder if the fan writers just copied each other and simply changed the names or sizes a little.
Suffice to say, I require a tad bit more originality... and while some very kind people (and open-minded Anime series) have kindly supplied that to me over the years, sooner or later i will have to take up the mantle myself. It's only fair that I give back, eh?
In any event, the replies here are getting narrower and narrower, and I'm typing this from a netbook so it's getting harder and harder to read.....
I reckon we'll have to switch to another appropriately-themed post very soon. ^.^;

I know! I just wish it allowed Edits... So often I comment just after I've woken up, before my logic filter really kicks in. So then I end up commenting jibberish. XD
I understand just what you're saying. Too often, fetish stories are just repeat scenes of the same scenario. Guy shrinks, they do it... And do it... And do it... Interestingly enough, I really prefer stories that do not contain sex at all. My favorite theme is the 'slice-of-life' slow-growth story. It starts out usually with a taller-than-average girl and a friend, and then, over the course of several days, weeks, or months, she goes from a practically normal 6' 2" to some fantastic number that's usually in the double-digits.
The best part of those stories, to me, is how they show the changes the girl must make in her life to live normally. People look at her differently when she goes out with her significant other (usually the protagonist). Doorways that were once plenty tall enough are now something she has to watch out for. There are so many excellent comparisons in a story like that, it's really a shame that it's such a small niche in the Giantess Genre.
Of course, I do enjoy the occasional 'quick-growth' story, preferably one that emulates rapid indoor growth much like Alice in Wonderland did in the White Rabbit's house. Again though, it's typical that when those stories are written, they are filled with sex, sex, sex. I would be just has happy reading a PG-13 version of the same growth story.
I think it would be wonderful to see a Giantess story written by you though. You're very eloquent and intelligent in your writing, and I can only imagine what it would be like if your skills were applied to creative literature.
I'm sure we'll find a new thread to bounce around on, come the time this one tiddles out. (Yes, I made up that word. XD )

Eep... I'm really stretching my poor Aspire One's 9 inch screen right now! Hehe! >v<
Not to worry, as Linux has the ever wonderful ALT+Left click to move windows everywhere -- that's key to dealing with software (or websites) not originally written for 1024x600 resolutions in mind. ^__^'
Even so, I'll keep this last post short since I think I have very little else to say. Your interest in moderate giantess story content is pretty much a cut-and-paste of mine -- in fact, that's why I thought the original Incredible Shrinking Man novel was a superb piece of literature precisely because of the depth and detail of the storytelling, rather than any cheapshot antics. -.-
But as far as the writing, I do have to say "thank you" first for saying that, and you can be certain that if at any time my writing can help someone out, I will gladly donate the time to write something that would knock collective socks off. ^^
Otherwise, like I mentioned in another post, I'm hoping to reserve any small skill I have in writing for the story (as well as the Help Documentation) for any future games I hope to program and publish. ^^

Hahaha! Just kidding! I dunno, but I imagine that CE-tan would be surprised and thrilled to meet someone who thinks she is a giantess and charmed by the DSL siblings' cuteness!
Of C-Chan's works, this one is still one of my favorite (if not my #1 favorite) because aside from being such an adorable and whimsical picture, the lighting effects are most spectacular!

Admittedly, it's just a tad bit outdated by today's standards (the shading is a bit tame, as if C-chan didn't want to add aggressive contrasting). Still, I think it definitely did give at least the desired affect (especially around her face and arms, via the light from the holo-projector). So yeah, glad that worked out. ^___^
Course, all that blurring is a bit CPU taxing, which is why I limit the amount of imitation soft-shading i do in my own stuff. ^.^
And yes, I agree that's it's a combination of the last two (with maybe just a hint of her first, if her "id" happens to chime in.... ^.^; ).
