Description Anyone excited for tonight's (UK-time-wise) Super Smash Bros. Direct?
Can't wait for it?
Well, I have something that'll lower your impatience!
And guess what?
It's got NOTHING to do with Smash Bros.!!
Hahaha.

..........Aaanyway, I remember showing my drawings of my own toon-style robots months ago, but now I'd like to show off something similar.

A couple of years ago, I set myself a challenge to draw EVERY competing Robot in series 3 of BBC's most classic robotic gladiator-like TV show, Robot Wars.
But I'm not just drawing these robots right from the screen; I'm giving them a twist of realistic features and comical faces, C-Studios-style.

This series was aired on Britain's TV screens from 1999 to 2000; it was the first series I watched, became my favourite, and has influenced me, eversince.
Once every week, there would be one of sixteen qualifying contests, known as 'heats'. The one winner of each heat would go through to one of two semi-finals near the end of the series. But ultimately, only 4 robots would remain to become the series champion in the Grand Final.

In the very first heat, Heat A, we have...
- MACE II, a box-like robot who was a veteran of Series 2. I replaced his lifting weapon with a similar lifting-tongue. Oddly enough, it suits him!
- STINGER, a type of machine known as an 'axel-bot': A robot with just one weapon and two wheels. He's a newcomer, but BOY does he show it in his first battle!
- FORKLIFT'S REVENGE, who had wheels AND tracks. ...Weird.
- SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, who is not quite suicidal by nature.
- BRIMHUR, whose only weapon was a single spike at the front. It now looks like a cigar, thanks to the face I added.
- WEELIWAKO, another axel-bot who should've been called Weelispiko.
- RAIZER BLADE, who was my favourite robot in this heat, simply because of his design.
- RED DRAGON, a wheel-chair desguised as a fat monster.

Suicidal Tendencies were quite a big word during that time despite of it's poor weapon design. (Never seen that grinder hurting for real)

Who would've thought that the first robot in series 3 to be presented, and lose, would come third place in the next series?
