Quasi started forward when he saw that all of the pack were just settled in their own little groups and mostly keeping to themselves and their friends. However, his stormy blue eyes caught sight of where his tall friend had stopped at.
Stag had stood with his father where his mother had laid. She was looking even thinner than she had only a couple of days ago, but she still tried her best to smile in front of her family. Spruce, shockingly, was even trying to keep her in high spirits; showering her in affectionate and loving licks in hopes of obviously distracting her from the lack of food. Stag’s youngest siblings weren’t too bothered by the worrisome conditions of their mother or even the lack of a decent meal, just eagerly jumping and yipping to greet their father and older brother.

Quasi felt a bud of guilt start to flower in his gut, his ears tilting slightly backwards to his head.

But as quickly as it came, he immediately quashed his unwanted emotion and continued on towards his destination. If Spruce really wanted to feed his family, he wouldn’t have tried to take a catch from a lower pack member, which (while it wouldn’t be uncommon) would still not look good in terms of honor, but he would go out instead and hunt himself to provide for them.
