As I said before in a recent status post: My Adventures With Superman is, inarguably, the most adorable thing I've ever seen on Adult Swim. Ever.

Now, I'm not saying I don't like Adult Swims usual raunchy humor shows, because god knows I do. Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken, Home Movies and my favorite show of them all: Aqua Teen Hunger Force, were all stables of my life as a cartoon enthusiast as much as kid shows like Blue's Clues, Totally Spies and Magic School Bus were.

It's just that MAWSM feels so friggin adorable and wholesome compared to everything else on the show. It's a series that focuses on Clark Kent in his early twenties trying to figure out his place in the world and his own origins. Thus making his identity of Superman just as much of a mystery to himself as it is to Lois Lane; his love interest and work partner in the Daily Planet.

Speaking of Lois and Clark (the characters, not the one show from the 90's), one of the biggest things people talk about regarding MAWSM is how fresh and amazingly written these 2 characters are. Clark being written as a giant dork (both literally and figuratively) and Lois being written as the kinda go-getter who doesn't like the rules stop her from getting what she wants, but at the same time knowing when too far is too far.

I speak no hyperbole when I say I've been trying to write my persona; Ruben Falcon, and his love interest; Savannah Vixen, in that matter for YEARS! Literally since their inception as a couple! So I decided to take Lois and Clark (again: not the 90's show) and make them one of the key inspirations for this couple.

But that begs the question: if this show is so heart-warming and wholesome, why put it on Adult Swim of all places? The answer to that is one of the 3 main things I've heard people say about the show, other than how wholesome it is. See if you could guess which one it is.

1. Lois looks like Luz Noceda.

2. Lois looks like Lance McClain.

And 3. Clark's pecs are so big, they qualify as "manboobs".

If you've guessed 3, you're correct. If you guessed 1 or 2, better luck next time but enjoy your consolation prize of a year supply of waffle shoes.

So, yeah, a lot of people have noticed that despite being a cute and wholesome show, there are a few key moments of adult material between Lois and Clark (Again: characters, not the show!). Resulting in beautiful things, like this: www.tumblr.com/holybodega/7224…

Because THIS is the kinda R-rated material I'd want to do in my show. Because while it's not as overt and in your face as it is in any other Adult Swim show, like Rick and Morty or Aqua Teens, it's still there. Which is another thing I like about this series because I've always wanted to do that in my work. Some people get the idea that I hate R-rated material because I was bombarded by disgusted perverts in my previous account and was basically harassed to draw them weird pervert art requests.

In reality, while I hated the weird ass shit I got like "draw this character in a diaper" or "draw this character tied up and gagged in my basement" (yes, those were real quotes), I mostly hated people borderline harassing me to do their perverted artwork, refusing to pay in anything other stupid DA points, or not paying me at all, and giving me the impression that my actual artwork is unappealing unless it involves boobs, bellies and bondage and not anything I actually wanted to do to support my own creative endeavors.

I do like R-rated material in my work; but the stuff I do is more of a mild spicy, if you know what I mean and this show is right on par with that concept.

Savannah already has a thing for Ruben's "manboob" pecs, almost as on par with how much he likes her "thicker than oatmeal" shortstack thighs. So this was a perfect concept for the 2 of them.

I like how it came out. Yeah, the poses were tricky and I had to redo the entire thing because I prematurely used the red ink and then made a mistake, meaning I couldn't erase anything. But I like it. And I especially like the background sentient furniture in Ruben's house. That was leftover inspiration from a PBS Kids show called City Island; where all of the characters are talking objects, but the background characters have quippy one-liners that are on par with Fred Flintsone's record player bird saying "Eh, it's a living". So I hope to do that in more of my work.

I don't do reviews anymore but I highly recommend My Adventures With Superman. I haven't felt this invested in a DC show since the short lived Super Hero Girls series and the even shorter lived Justice League Action series. I love this new show just as much as I do the new-ish show; Batwheels. And I can easily see MAWSM being a stable of the DC fandom, along with other classic shows like the OG Superman animated series, the Batman animated series, Green Lantern animated series, Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice, Harley Quinn, and even Lois and Clark.
