Some of you may remember that earlier this summer, I introduced Savannah Vixen's sisters and partners in crime. Originally starting off as 2 background cheerleaders in this comic I did for Father's Day; www.deviantart.com/cadabra623/… , and with the help of some brainstorming from my friends; 5 year champion of the alligator tickling contest; DandyAndy1989 and best man at Dracula and Ms. Bellum's wedding; Liar94 , I was able to come up with the first draft of their characters of Savannah Fortune and her sisters Ariel and Misty.

Since then, there has been A LOT of edits in their overall designs. If you're wondering why it took me a quarter of a year to draw these characters again, it's mostly because, and I can't stress this enough, their designs kept changing everytime I tried to sketch them or add them in a comic or anything.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: this is the kinda thing you deal with when your original series is still in WIP mode.

Anyway, the first major change was Savannah's sisters' names. Originally, the "moody broody" sister was named Ariel while the "ditzy giggly" sister was named Misty. After several trials, I decided to change their name a little and ended up renaming Ariel "Kendall" and Misty "Brittany".

And why? Because just like Savannah, Kendall and Brittany are named after places. Not even kidding; "Kendall" means "Royal valley of Kent" and Brittany is a sort of historic town in France. I picked those names because they kinda fit the vibes of the characters.

Another major change I did to them are their body shapes. I wanted to do something that made them more distinguished from each other. Sure, they're basically triplets--with Savannah being the oldest by, like, 10 seconds--but that doesn't mean they need to look EXACTLY the same. I wanted them to all be curvy but different levels of curvy. To put it as blunt as possible; some are bustier than others, some are thiccer than others.

And lastly, unlike the first picture, which had them in their witches uniforms, this is them in their civilian clothes. And I gotta say, these clothes I designed are the most satisfying thing in this redux pic of the Vixen Sisters.  Really makes them look like humans, true, even though they're straight up witches. If anything, if you found out Savannah and her sisters are witches and then saw them again like this in their civilian forms, it'd make sense in context. Sort of like seeing Clark Kent with his glasses after finding out he's Superman.

Also, another MAJOR problem I had a problem with the basic info regarding Savannah, not just with her sisters, but in general. Besides the whole "Catwoman X Batman" styled romance she has with Ruben, a lot of Savannah's background info changes almost every time I talk about her beyond the concept of shipping. But, after several tries and more brainstorming with friends, I think I have something I can be satisfied with.

To put it as blunt as possible (again); Savannah and her sisters are thieves from another world. Namely the Kingdom of Twisted Fables; a sort of dark and twisted storybook. A kingdom ruled by the Vixens' mother and father; a wicked queen and a spooky pirate captain respectfully. Savannah and her sisters can access their world via a special storybook, one that was warped into Ruben's world by something called an Anomaly. And Anomalies are something I've been ITCHING to talk about, but can't until I get a lot of other stuff taken care of. But the short version of it is that Anomalies are when things from other dimensions in the multiverse get warped into Ruben's world, causing things like buildings to change shape, mythical creatures to appear and even turn people into outright monsters. All via corrupted energy that leaks into worlds via small rips in the space time continuum.

Why am I doing this info dump here? Because during the origin story phase I was stuck in for God knows how many years, Savannah and her sisters were gonna be the first Anomaly Ruben would have to deal with during his origin story.

While Savannah was originally based off of all of the villainess waifus I've had pretty much my entire life, her relationship with Kendall and Brittany are based off of a special dynamic I've seen with very few villain times. One sassy girl leader, one moody-broody girl and one ditzy bubbly girl, as I mentioned earlier. Inspired specifically by the Dazzlings from Equestria Girls and, to a certain extent, Azula's Angels from Avatar. To a certain extent that isn't so toxic and horrendous to work with. I did a really good explanation of this in the OG version of the Vixens so I'll just paste it here:

"The difference between The Dazzlings and the Ozai's Angels is the same difference between Lumity and Catradora: the 2nd one is fueled by emotional abuse, gaslighting, outright toxicity and is a situation where a lot of people in the fanbase agree that all party involved would be better off not involved with each other.

See, the problem Team Azula is Azula herself. She's a deranged, power hungry psychopath that ruins the lives of everyone around her, including her own. Remember, Azula went to recruited Ty Lee; everyone's favorite acrobatic beach bunny, into her team by going to her at her new circus home, listening to how she's never been happier, hear Ty Lee decline, say she respects her decision, say she'll attend her show and then outright sabotage her circus show so that Ty Lee will get the hint that she's coming with Azula whether she likes it or not.

Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure the worst thing Adagio Dazzle; leader of the Dazzlings, ever did to her teammates was call them annoying idiots. Which they are. The Dazzlings may get on each others' nerves and all, but I don't sense any hostility, toxicity or anything between them that'd would be so bad that their whole team would betray their leader like with Azula and her so called angels.

That's why I want Savannah and her sisters to be more like the Dazzlings and less like Azula's team. If anything, Eva's Catastrophes are more like Azula's team because god knows Eva is the kinda person who'd harass her own teammates like that.

Meanwhile, Savannah's sisters are...well, her sisters. So she obviously gives a damn about them and would sooner slaughter someone who threatened them the same way Azula would with quite literally anyone.

And before anyone asks: NO, this ain't a harem situation. Ruben isn't romantically involved with Ariel and Misty the same way he is with Savannah. And they aren't interested in him the same way Savannah is. Sure, they'll tease them a little for flirting during a mission, but that's the best they got.

It's almost like the relationship a guy has with his sisters in law--OH WAIT."

I know that last part didn't have to do with the whole "Azula's Angels" thing, but it's still valid: The Vixens ain't some weird harem shit. Kendall and Brittany aren't romantically involved with Ruben that much, just frenemies.

And yeah, that's the Vixens' new designs. Maybe now I can finally do some Halloween work with them. Or, you know, work in general.
