Your attention to detail's truly amazing. Carvings on the chair, all the materials, flowers.. garrr.. I keep finding all these different things in the picture..
I specially like the use of pink, red and the cooler shades of purples.. so romantic!

I really need to stop looking at the similar deviations on the right hand side of the page, it's taking me forever to get off the internet seeing so many great pieces.

Really like this, big fan of well done digital art, particularly like the colour used on the eyes!

That's an mpressive piece!
Just a little critique on the legs: They are too small and too short in comparison to her upper body.

You're right, thank you! Initially when I did this, I wanted her legs to start further back than the slit on the dress, but I didn't narrate this properly. I was also considering foreshortening on the lower leg, but I just did not do this correctly.

this is absolutely fantastic. i love the sensitivity to the highlights on the fabric and the detailing. speaking of which, there is so much of it. it would drive me mad, so i give you props! i aspire to be able to work this way, i just love doing portraits of pretty girls. xD i think the fabric has to be my favorite part, either that or the creamy tones of her skin. such an interesting blend of warm and cools going on here. keep up the great work!

Holy moly, she's insanely beautiful, with character. She could pass for a sister or cousin of Natalie Portman - lips and eyes, I think. Yeah, one kiss from her and I would pretty much keel over, both happy and dead.

wow, this is simply amazing. I love the contrast of her dark colored eyes and the paler skin
And all the details are incredible ... the patterns, the colors ... great impact
And of course, she is very beautiful
I think her leg ist a little bit to short or to thin ... I'm not sure
But that doesn't change the amazing impact of your picture at all
great work

How You do a pillow? I mean details, and materials...I don't know how i could do a chiffon or other... It's so hard for me...

Caelicorn In reply to Quaneruin [2011-02-27 21:28:40 +0000 UTC]

Hello dear! Sorry for late response, I have had a really hectic few months >.<

You asked about how to do fabrics etc. This might help with chiffon and other diaphonous fabrics, even though it is very old: [link]

For gauzey fabrics I always draw the underlying form and usually paint in ripples of light or shadow and then follow those lines to create a fabrics ontop. This fabric is always on a -separate- layer so that if I get in trouble, which is often, I just draw the gown as you have in your picture here: [link] and then lower the opacity until I have the dezired gauzy look. Then I often duplicate that layer, erasing out the parts of fabric that are either closer to the eye, or close against the skin/surface of whatever the fabric is against, creating denser folds in this manner by continuously duplicating pieces out wherever I desire. I use an eraser brush because of its tapered edges, which mean that the transition from very gauzy to very dense stays natural looking. There is probably an easier way to do this but I haven't figured it out or read anything on it yet!!!

Cushions - well these cushions here I did in a similar 2 part way. I painted the shape of the cushions first, including the density and the weight, and for some satin (which often seems to have a shiny, thready "grain" depending on which way you look at it, many dodged and soft light tiny flicks in one direction. So eventually I had a bunch of very bland, single-coloured cushions. Then I painted patterns on a separate layer (I did this cushion by cushion), and raised and lowered the opacity. For satiny patterns which do not seem to stick up much from the surface of the cushion, I just lowered the opacity and softened/blotted any lines that werent soft already.

For embroidery it is a little more complex - it was similar to satin cushions, but I kept the lines sharp, and then went over them with a 3rd stage of refining small details with sharp little strokes, imagining that I was thread lol! I am trying to upload steps etc of my fabrics lately, and also details - usually to this gallery though: [link] Cushions take a very long time so I am not keen to do them again soon, but next one I will make a tutorial :3 I always feel so pretentious and uppity doing that though, but I am happy to help if you have any questions !
