Description
I am working on a fantastical series of angels at the moment in my own time that aren't meant to be religious, but almost comic style pieces. The armour and characters in general are over the top and very fun to design. For this one, I wanted to go with wing shapes and put six to eight on them since I think traditionally, archangels have many wings. Initially I was going to go for a rooster armour design and wing style, but it got a bit toooo colourful for my colourful liking. This is also a tribute to my brother, Michael, who has always been my angel and there for me (and also posed as the reference for this person!)You can see a larger version here: [link]

Oh man! Great job on this, simply amazing.
It is hard to give a critique on this because it is so well done! The colors are great, just the hint of pop where its needed, and I absolutely LOVE the lighting on the bottom part of the right (his left) wing. All around, Super fantastic job on the lighting of this piece. He really looks ethereal.
If I have to give some constructive criticism, the only thing I would say is the lighting on his pinky (right hand) makes his finger look a little too bent outward, it should be more congruent (not sure if congruent is the right word) with his ring finger.
Anyways, really great job on this! This is my first critique, which really there's nothing to critique about your work, I just saw it and pushed the button.

It doesn't really matter what chords I play
What words I say or time of day it is
As it's only a Northern song.

Is that supposed to be clever?
I'm asking a simple question. Why do you have to make it so hard?

Would you say you're a man of clarity? Brevity of phrase is a good thing, but not if the thought and meaning behind the phrase is lost.
Your emotional connection to the piece (how it kindles memories of childhood imagination and wonder) is only hinted at, and the depth of that connection is not fully conveyed to the reader. I nearly missed that beautiful point because it was so briefly and incompletely communicated.
Do you understand the gist of what I'm saying?

I had to laugh a bit when I saw this amazing piece of work. I really love it, because I was thinking about Arcangel Michael right in that moment before I saw this image.
Oh my, I love those wings and the position of how the character is standing. It gives you straight away the feeling of intimidation when you try to look at the face of the angel.
And the armor of the Angel looks just as heroic as he really is. (I must admit that he really looks good-looking and that I always had the weakness of admiring warriors [especially the heavenly friendly and good lookin ones] )
All in all I love this awesome piece of work and I hope and wish, that you will make some more of these kind of works!
Keep up the awesome work and lose never faith of love, peace and the good will in everyone!!!

Thank you! I am honoured at such a wonderful comment. Isn't it strange that sometimes you think of something/someone, and it inevitably seems to pop up that moment, or later that day!

Your Art is awesome.I love it.I love this piece. Also I keep looking for art of Nephillim. They were like giant angels that came to earth and took the daughters of men . There are many myths about it you can look it up. I imagine an exceptionally larger angel with magnificent wings and looks like the Chris Cornell from soundgarden. A variety of Nephillim angels would be awesome. Let me know if you ever do so I can add it to my pinterest Future Worlds Imagination Storyboard. I hope you check it out it will inspire you.

He is beautiful, powerful, and awesome! Love the texture and light effects on the feathers/wings.. and seeing the rosary hanging there means oh so much! The red ribbon - does that refer to the Precious Blood of Jesus? - very powerful elements in this portrait!

Beautiful colours!!! Despite being an angel, all those green lights makes him look sinister.. almost like a villain.
The touch of red ribbon on his sword is pure genius!! Great armour design too.

You can find a little bit more info in this rough website made by my colleges [link] (Sorry for the bad English). Of course you will have full credits of your work and link to your webpage if you want
Lot of thanks for your time

The tradition is that the seraphim have 6 wings, and cherubim are often said to have 6 wings too. In the Dionysian scheme they occupy the top hierarchy along with the thrones: these are the angels that directly attend God. Archangels are second in the lowest hierarchy, as the angels that deal with humanity; they're shown with only 2 wings. However, Michael has often been cited as both an archangel *and* a seraph. The way you handled the wings here is an excellent way to depict the tradition of his dual rank.

No, this picture is used commercially already.
It depends what you use a picture for, but for book covers and general large-scale pieces I charge $700 as a starting rate and go up from there.
