You are sssssso right, Tim! Both Optimus and Bumblebee really turn out impressive. I am grateful I got the chance to be part of such a creative team. Eight weeks of torture...but worth the ordeal!

I see. By the way, how tall is he?

Optimus is 26 feet tall and made his debut at the Hong Kong premiere. Bumblebee impressed at the New York opening and tops out at 20 feet.

I see. By the way, did you got permission to borrow this statue, or did you made him by scratch?

These full-size statues were commissioned by Hasbro and were made from scratch. Urethane-coated EPS foam. Whenever I look at those pics I can easily pick out the parts I sculpted.

Were you also responsible for this statue? If so, you made every fan proud.
This puts my fan art of Optimus to shame.

Well, Tony...I would say that I did my part in creating "Optimus". It took a highly skilled team of craftsman to get that awesome job done. I'm glad you like the result of our efforts!

To think that Peter Cullen himself stood before this masterpiece. That's a big honor.

Did you meet Mr. Cullen, by chance?

caesar120 In reply to tonycreatah [2015-04-07 14:58:21 +0000 UTC]
Alas, Tony, no. As a lowly sculptor, I wasn't invited to the movie premieres. I had to be content with the simple satisfaction that I was part of a fantastic creative endeavor.Β Certainly would have been nice to experience all that hoopla...but...I'm fine.

If this makes you feel better, I have some "Transformers" fan art in my gallery. You might find Peter Cullen himself.

That's true. You'd be quite the hit with the kids. It's the adults you would have trouble with. Good thing your Optimus knows how to use that sword!

Holy God, this is amazing! D8 Were you commissioned to help make this Optimus as a promotional item? The detail is simply exquisite!

caesar120 In reply to CraftyMaelyss [2015-01-14 19:54:04 +0000 UTC]
Yes, Maelyss, this was a commission piece. One of a pair, which included a full size Bumblebee as well. Hasbro wanted to capitalize on the surge of interest created by the premeire of the new movie. So they hired a local company to create these BIG sculptures. I was fortunate enough to be part of the creative team!

You are so lucky! Too be able to use so much creative energy on such an enormous statue piece! True, it would be exhausting but still a fantastic experience nevertheless!

It was indeed a great experience, Mae. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime project. A grueling eight weeks...carving hundreds of parts! *smile* But the outcome was stunning...and very rewarding.

Isn't there a museum for movie stuff? P: Like at the studio itself? Man he'd be awesome to stand guard on your front lawn! XD

caesar120 In reply to CraftyMaelyss [2015-01-16 03:43:40 +0000 UTC]
Very true, Mae. Optimus would make a great lawn ornament! *smile* But the fate of these giant sculptures is unknown. They cost alot of money, so I must assume they will be given a new purpose.

CraftyMaelyss In reply to caesar120 [2015-01-16 04:21:39 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I would actually picture them being placed somewhere in the studio's main lobby or front entrance if there was enough room, since Optimus is their beacon of pride
