Sharkie was one of eighteen creature/characters that I created for a roleplaying game called 'Godsfall'. Aside from the look of this piece, I was particularly pleased with the composition of the image. So...I like him too, Arianna!

The grayscale stuff is interesting and it sure doesn't look like ink - is that charcoal added over an inked drawing, or is it drybrushed stuff or something?

Well, Jonathan, it is actually a range of drawing pencils. I believe his "skin" was layed down with a 6B pencil, which is soft enough to pick up the subtlyΒ textured surface of the paper's surface. So it's soft lead pencil over an ink drawing.

There is an intelligence in his eyes, yet I see a touch of sorrow too. Perhaps he has to go to work in the morning just like me.
Anyway, fantastic image. Viewing another illustration from you has made me happy. I like the angle of the pose and the foreshortened figure, rising up through the inky dark depths.
