Description
Something a bit different for me...but still in the realm of Fantasy. This is also more personal. A self portrait. Sure I love fantasy and scifi...but I also love ancient history. In particular, Roman history. I have family roots in northern Italy and have always been fascinated by the depth and breadth of the Roman influence on civilization. So this is...my 2000-year-old Self!Related content

True, I just look at it as historic fiction, and thus I enjoy it. The battles were very good, and I loved the Battle in Germania it did well with Hans Zimmer's score. Yes it is fiction, because I belive Commodus died in a bath in real life. And Marcus Arillus was a bastard in real life as well, though he was the more tollerable of the Emperors since he gave Christians a choice between accepting the Pagan gods or being fed to the lions.

It really becomes you! What I've always liked about your work was the down-to-earth feel of your characters. Nothing over the top, just extremely believable *people* - something that I strongly associate with the old Star Wars films and what was just a perfect fit for RPGing in that universe.

Very gratifying words, Jen...especially coming from someone as talented as you obviously are. I did strive for believability in my illustrations. I felt it was important to the gameplayers who paid so much for the books.

Well we always did fight back. There was always a military precence in Enlgand because the romans knew if there wasn't we'd take our land back.
Of course then the anglo saxons nicked our land ¬_¬
But hey they were pretty cool about it, didn't go in for much taxation and had a democracy so, weren't too bad. Really it was the next invaders, the Normans who sucked ass.
And they never left still stuck the buggers. Took our land, taxed the hell out of us and basically turned every one in england into slaves, only they didn't have to provide us with food or shelter. Actually the Normans freed a lot of slaves because serfs were more profitable and had even less rights.
But any I shall not complain about every invader of my homeland or we'll be here all week.
Besides at some point I'd have to mention the vikings, and I love vikings, which is kinda hipocritical if I'm gunna be mad a romans and Normans.

The Normans. *smile* I remembering seeing a British coin commemorating the Norman Conquest. My instant reaction was to laugh and say "Why would the English want to commemorate being conquered?" That's when it hit me. The Normans never left!

They just didn't. Every peasent rebellion since then has been an attempt to return to the anglo saxon way of life. which used to be reffered to as the golden age.

I know right, tis why I always refer to them as bastards.
Oh and those bloody evil knights. With all the their posh armour, going around the place wearing more money than a peasent will see in their whole lives just to say, don't even think about rebelling none of you're weapons could even hurt me.
And the scouring of the north *Shudder* I will never understand why more people don't hate the Normans.
