Description Scorpion Chair
__Design III
__Project: Product & Package Design
__Theme: Halloween/Scary

Made up of 1" square tubing (welded by me) frame and upholstered pieces (3/4" MDF with 1" foam, wrapped in black suede.) This took about 50 hours to complete. It was supposed to be painted orange (same as the orange bike in my gallery) but ran out of time. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

I just love the concept so much!
The suade is a very nice touch, the only thing I find a bit of a flaw is the apolstery application. Otherwise, very well done ^ ^

by application do you mean the fabric & foam to the wood or the whole upholstered piece to the frame? because i was pretty limited with both options (especially since I had never upholstered anything before.) what suggestions do you have that would have made it better? i want to learn

The applying of the fabric is what I meant ^ ^;
I don't know how you assembled the chair specifically, so I can't really say how to make the chair better again...or...yeah.
But when apolstering, do it by pieces. Like...A barstool...or a chusion of a chair that slides into the wooden base of the chair itself...Take the cushion and your fabric...you want to lay the fabric on a flat surface, then place the cushion. Flip it...tighten the fabric and staple...if you have trouble keeping it non wrinkled...use tacs ^ ^

That's my personal suggestion.
Otherwise, the artistic style is SUPERB.
I love the design.

that's pretty much how i did it except i used contact cement as well. as afr as i know that's how you do automotive upholstery (headliners, door panels etc.)
plus the suede was kinda crunchy and not smooth because it was old, leftover stuff from a prior project (that's how I able to use $600 worth of microsuede on a school project.) thanks for the insight.

No problem ^ ^
If it's crunchy, try ironing with a steam iron ^ ^;
Hope your future projects are fun~
