Neema for Jolyn.She is and always has been one of my favorite characters in all the artistic subcultures. I've been meaning to do this for a long time now, and slowly but surely the sketch developed, cleaned up, and was ready to finish. It has been sitting around in my folder for about a week, waiting for the final touches, and I have managed to work on it in bits and pieces around my artblock.
The drawing in real life is, imho, one of my best pieces. Unfortunately, no matter how much I coaxed, the better attributes of the composition and coloring did not scan well.
I ask that, for now at least, this be one of the few pieces in my gallery to go without major critique (that is to say, I always accept tips on coloring/drawing/anatomy in general so that I may do better on future drawings, but specifics of this piece that cannot be changed will not be, so please leave it alone). I am extremely proud of it and, by staring at it long enough, will become painfully aware of its flaws.
Okay, enough with the long-winded blather. Jolyn, I adore you and wish I could turn out much better pieces for you, things that could rank with the likes of Lee*Lee, Kaz, Huskie, Kur, Malice, and all the other extremely talented artists who draw for you, but for now we will have to settle for this.

Maybe try painting them more three-dimensional. There are different types of scars. Judging from the colour I think these are raised from the skin. Or vary the types, there are these raised, sometimes glossy ones or some that are broad and have a rough surface. Some are pink, some could be grey-ish or pale white ...

yes, these are raised scars (deep cuts that never healed properly). do you have any tips on how to give them depth using prisma markers? i could probably draw the base pink in marker and shade a bit with prismacolor pencil, but since they are under mesh, it would be challenging. also, to shade such raised pinkish scars, should i use a flesh tone, or a light grey?

Mmh, I never used markers, so I just can give some general tips. Actually I'd say shade them in a warm grey-ish tone. pink would make them stand out too much. Maybe some highlights with a very light grey / white pencil which would lighten the base tone a bit.
As for the mesh, I don't know if your materials allow it: I'd shade these scars in the same way as the other ones and redraw the mesh then. If possible

oh my fucking god kim. ;___; *runs in and curls up around you, nuzzling* this is one of the most beautiful gifts i have ever received. i knew you liked neema, but i didn't know you thought that highly of her. she's one of my charas that a lot of people overlook sometimes, unlike people like devon and anima. and just.
this piece is absolutely breathtaking. i think this is really one of the best images of her. you got every little detail PERFECT. you even added in the corset piercings on her tail... the red ribbon you used between the piercings is beautiful... and all the tail bracelettes and stuff are so cute ; ; her face is so 3d and so full of depth! she looks so real, like i could just reach in there and touch her. i often try to draw my charas really realistically, like how i would see them if i did see them truly standing before me... and i think you really captured neema perfectly.
