Description
Good ol' Wile E. Coyote (Moronis Idioticus) and Road-Runner (Fastius Foodius) in the typical scenario, done up for AMA-Con.I always identified with ol' Wile E. here. Failure is part of life, and he shows us all how to remain tenacious and persistent no matter how many of our well-laid plans blow up in our faces, or how many proverbial cliffs we plummet off of... Life lessons, my friends; life lessons.
Wile E. and the Road-Runner are, of course, copyright Β© Warner Bros. and Chuck Jones' genius brain. As if you didn't already know that.

Earth must be Wile E.'s element, because he's certainly got a mouthful of it...
Thanks for the kind words!

You're right, a little bit of Wile E. lives in all of us. Β
I read a autobiography about Chuck Jones. Amazing guy.

Was it "Chuck Amuck"? I've read that one too, and it's a great book. Much more entertaining than most biographies, and to a cartoonist, it's also very informative and helpful.

Β The never-ending optimism of that coyote. He even brought along his knife and spoon. Really, it's almost inspiring.

That's a fork, silly girl; not a spoon... but I digress...
It is somewhat inspiring. I think we could all learn a lesson about failure and tenacity from that old coyote.

Thanks, I'm glad you think so.
To be fair, though, "Failure is always an option" is from Mythbusters; another show involving crazy contraptions, wacky plans, and stuff exploding...

Yep, I've got a bit of a Wile E. Coyote complex myself. I'm extremely persistent, often to my own detriment. It's one thing to stick with it; it's another to not know when to quit...

Even the quote this quote as well. As well as we can all take life lessons from Wile E here as far as being persistant and never giving up.
The details is pretty awesome there, I like how you did the effects for the road here.

"Mythbusters" is where I stole the title from. Another show that involves crazy contraptions, wacky plans, and stuff blowing up. Apropos, no?
Thanks for the compliments on the details, by the way.
As for the road, all I did was use the airbrush tool in Photoshop, set to "dissolve" to throw some texture on it.

Very true, though to Road Runner perhaps he enjoys the Wile E.'s company and respects his efforts to try and catch him, though he knows that would never happen.

CalamityKangaroo In reply to David31 [2014-07-25 19:48:42 +0000 UTC]
I think Road Runner may have a little pity for Wile E.... After all, at one point he's about to "meep meep" Wile E. off a cliff and then pulls out a sign saying "I don't have the heart."
For the most part though, I don't thing Road Runner even pays the Coyote much mind at all.

All I can tell you is what I've observed. If you want to go to the source, Chuck Jones makes it pretty clear in his autobiography that he was mostly concerned with the Coyote's characterization more so than the Road Runner's. He also stated that there was an unwritten rule that the Road Runner couldn't directly harm Wile E., most all of his catastrophic failures are his own fault.
