More G1 inspired stuff, and I didn't even watch G1. Based on the "Applejack and the Evil Wizard" sort comic [link] , AJ was pretty badass.Heavy influence from the style of Masami Kurumada.

I really haven't had a chance to read a lot of those. Not to complain, but in the link you posted they seemed to have 404'd. (Anyway, I can always google them later.)
But yeah, I liked at least this one. They had to shorten the comics, but it's nice to see some old pony adventures, they have a lot of the 80s' fantasy style. Not to mention they can serve as inspiration.
And now I'm holding out for the upcoming MLP:FiM comic...
