The heroine of the "The immortals" books by Tamora Pierce actually -does- raise a dragon for a while and has a deep relationship with all animals - so my first thought was that this might be an illustration for the story. But also as a stand-alone picture it is very beautiful!

So thoroughly delightful! I love your lighting and color choices (the diffused blue lighting is so evocative of a brisk spring day), and the details like her sidesaddle.

So much happiness at one art! No matter how difficult is living in such a family, all bad things, one day can fly away ;D Awesome art.

I read on your fineartamerica page that you did this on illustration board. May I ask what kind?Β

Out of curiosity... which is the "child" here, and which is the "parent?" This is a really beautiful and upliftingly playful scene either way!

My intention was that the dragon is the child and the human the mother - she is using her falcon to try and teach her son to fly - but, of course, like all art, it is open to interpretation of the viewer :3

Cool! I wonder how she came to adopt a dragon.

I love how all your paintings tell such interesting stories! This one is really heart warming; I could imagine this being a story from the world of "Howl's Moving Castle" or "Castle Waiting"Β It has that kind of sweet feeling to itΒ
