Description
If you find this little walkthrough useful, I’d be grateful if you could add it to your favourites or leave a comment; just to let me know whether or not I should create another similar project in the future.Link to part two
I don't know what's with the scanner, but the colours of the painting (especially those in the face), are closer to the original photo in real life and not quite so "harsh" as they appear here.
I'll see if I can take a photo of the painting in daylight instead, later on.

Oh, that's what I've been wondering myself for the past 6 years.. I made the tutorial temporarily unavailable several years ago, but people have kept adding it to their favourites ever since.. so I just assumed it was still visible and I never uploaded it a second time. I could do, though, I still have the files.

THANK YOOOU!!

Hi there, I'm happy to hear that you like it. It's difficult to explain how I painted the eyes in more detail than I already have in the tutorial - at least without making a video. I might upload one of those in the future though.

A very good tutorial Camilla. I particulary like your method of doing the hair (one my weakness's). I look forward to seeing more.

This is so amazing! How you can create these super realistic skin tones is completely beyond me, how long did it take you to figure it out?
And thanks so much for making this tutorial <3 I'm hoping to be able to do a portrait of my friends fav actor but even if I don't make it till then, this tut will help alot in the long run

Thank you very much!
I've found that colour-mixing usually comes pretty intuitively for my part, but otherwise I keep a scrap of paper next to my palette, where I test different colour mixes to see if they match the reference photo. It's easier if using a limited range of colours (basic red, yellow and blue, each in a cold and a warm hue), since there aren't all that many combinations then, only a matter of amount, which is easy to adjust on the mixing palette.
I hope the tutorial was useful for the portrait.
Thank you for taking the time to comment!
...and sorry for the (very) late reply.

I draw but I am going to try this, you really made it seem simple. I hope can do it, I want to do a portrait of my sister who passed away last year.
