All the regulars plus a few irregulars were on hand that morning. Seems that Bruce, our Tower contact,had leaked that American Freedom train would be passing by on it's run to the west and everyone
wanted a shot of it. Since no one wanted to venture across the tracks for obvious reasons to the left,
we were all crowded together like Sardines, each wanting the best spot.
I sort of won the battles and was able to get ready just as I heard the familiar sounds of two
Alco PAs growling when the lead unit for the UP coal turbine came up and surprised us all! At
least the SP cab forward's engineer was kind enough to turn off his headlight, so my shot
would come out!
