This is what the sketch I did for "The Muffin Hunter" was going to be before I decided to do a full-fledged image.This is also one of the t-shirt designs I submitted! Voting starts on Tuesday. I can't wait!

Derpy's love of muffins comes from the episode "The Last Roundup", her first speaking role, where she is saying "Mmmmmm... muffins." Her seeming weakness for them is a creation of the fan community. It's part of her charm, cuteness and popularity.
I'm sure Derpy eats more than muffins. Carrot muffins, broccoli muffins, egg and cheese muffins, tomato muffins, oatmeal muffins, celery-and-peanut-butter muffins... yay!

ok, when did Derpy liking muffins start? I've never actually seen Derpy Hooves eat a muffin in any of the MLP episodes I've watched.

In Applebuck Season, when AJ and Pinkie finish making the muffins and are handing them out, it looks like Derpy says "muffins". It's since been discovered that it most likely wasn't her, but that's where it came from.
