It kinda sounds as if Quen at one point tried having biological kids with someone. Which is interesting since he's gay from what I remember.
My guess is his illness makes him infertile but maybe the fact that being gay complicated having bio kids also played a factor?

I've been following this for a while, and this seems like Carmella is just being a giant bitch. Quen told Correlle's mother that she is an investment right up front, and he's been getting Corelle's input on every step of the process. Maybe Carmella is stressed about something, but from my viewpoint she has no reason or right to shit on Quen like that. Knowing that I don't have the full backstory at this point, I certainly hope it's justifiable in some way, but this woman certainly need to get smacked with a clue-by-four.
